To people wondering if long-term update support for NMS will end: I think they literally love the ga...

I think they could have sunset NMS development like 2 years ago and it still would be considered a damn good open world universe exploration game.

And think of what it means to the devs from beginning to end. It went from something lame and not very substantial, a shallow experience, to something far deeper and far vaster than anyone (even the developers themselves) could’ve imagined.

Obviously there are still a few grating issues with the game (we need an Origins 2 update, seriously, planet and creature variety would help a lot, I’m tired of seeing the same deers and teddy bears and tigers on every planet) but I think that if NMS free update support were to ever end, it would’ve happened a year or so ago.

And of course you can make the argument “Bro wtf are you saying, it’s a company, they make choices based on their wallets not their hearts” and yeah, for most companies I think that’s true but HG is different because of the intense emotional journey most of them have gone through regarding the creation, development, and ongoing support of NMS from its dumpster fire beginning to its current celebrated engoodening.

Another notion to consider: No Man’s Sky doesn’t have super massive content updates. You can just read a patch note one day and see that they implemented a new storyline where you can create and adopt your own little Sentinel buddy and also rework your Minotaur mech. Like sure, from a coding/programming/dev standpoint it IS complex, I’m not denying that, but it’s not nearly as involved as a whole expansion. My point is that Hello Games deliberately keeps their scope low when it comes to expanding on No Man’s Sky, and because of that, in addition to the passion that most of them probably feel for the game, I highly doubt that long-term support for NMS will end any time soon.

But I can be wrong, I’ve certainly been wrong before. However, even if NMS free update support DOES end, it’s going to end on an incredibly high note. They’re not going to just drop it. They’ll drop a banger of a final update that will keep us sated for years. I don’t think they’ll let it go without a “cherry on top”, so to speak.

I love No Man's Sky - but how are there still no gas giants?

The first time i saw a gas giant in the game ‘Outer Worlds’…my jaw just…dropped at the sight of a rainbow Jupiter. Then i felt sad because there is NOTHING in No Man’s Sky as beautiful as that. Not even close. And it makes me upset because i specifically remember Sean promising us gas giants multiple times. So far, Hello Games has done a fantastic job updating the game, but gas giants were the one thing i was excited for the most. I don’t even care if we can’t land on them. I’m only saying this because i want No Man’s Sky to be the best it can be.

Made a Knowledge Stone light..

Made a Knowledge Stone light..

Press the Vortex Cube to activate/deactivate. LCD stays on for 10 seconds (but I can change that).

Build on a small wooden box so I can put a battery bank in with the controller chip and make it portable, or run the usb cable out the side to a wall adapter.

It’s also hooked in my home automation (Home Assistant) so i can change any of the light colours or send custom messages. Hoping to have it announce patches and things like that with a unique Knowledge Stone colour associated with it, maybe the water/lava colour too.

Overall pretty happy with it. I’ll probably mess around with the decorations and such. It’s been something I’ve wanted to do for a while, glad it’s done. 😁

Please explain Voltaic Staff Spawning in 2024.

I’ve been researching staff colors and classes, but it seems a lot of the information I’m finding may be outdated, or I’m just not understanding it correctly. I’ve read that the staff head determines the build, but if I mark a staff terminal for future use, IE. I want to come back when I free up inventory space, I can’t seem to build the same staff again.

Here’s my scenario. I was exploring autophage camps, and found a particular staff color combo I liked. I dropped a save beacon, jumped up to the Anomaly to disassemble an A class MT I wanted to break down rather than exchange away. I then returned to the camp to claim my shiny new staff, but I can’t recreate the build!

In actual fact, this camp had two staff builds I wanted. One was color specific, and the other had a supercharged slot layout I wanted. I cannot recreate either.

For the record, I play on GOG. Do the staff builds vary from planet to planet like regular multi tool cabinets do?

Setting Up Frigate Missions

I honestly don’t know if I’m wasting my time crafting frigate upgrades.

I select frigates that match the mission type, making sure to have a 5-star rating. Most of my ships are S-class now. I add 3 frigate upgrades to each mission (also matching them to the mission type). I have several freighter upgrades that help with various things.

I genuinely don’t know if I’m getting better returns by including the frigate upgrades or not. I left them off yesterday and I actually got more stuff.

I just wonder what’s the best way to maximize the success of frigate missions.
