This would probably not have been a problem before Waypoint. However I just got softlocked inside a volcano on an erupting planet. I was flying my ship, and the terrain glitched out as I was skimming the planet surface, resulting in a volcano rendering on top of myself. Due to these volcanos being both hollow objects? and impossible to terraform, it trapped me inside its model, with my ship. Instinctively, I exited my ship to try and figure things out, but I realized all too late that doing this overwrote my auto and manual slots with my softlocked state. I tried flying out, digging out, trying to summon and clip out by getting into an exocraft and ship on the outside of the walls. And blowing myself up with a geology cannon. Nothing worked, and for a couple minutes I was just sitting in my chair, distraught that my entire file might be doomed. As a last resort, I built a base computer, and used it to build a teleport terminal, and biomass burner, which thankfully I had the resources on hand for. This was my ONLY ESCAPE. As it stands now, we all must take extreme precautions to ensure that we don’t get completely screwed over by the new Waypoint save system. If the save system was reverted back to its old form, I could easily have just reloaded a manual save and this entire thing would have been avoided, but not anymore. I have hopes this will be fixed at some point, but realistically this is likely going to be a lasting issue. Stay cautious, Travelers.
