Strongest Starship Weapon? 357k DPS.

Strongest Starship Weapon? 357k DPS.

Just wondering what everyone’s IK is at, and if anyone else has achieved these numbers. This is with no mods or hacks. The starship is a 4 square supercharged interceptor, with around 350 base damage potential. The X class mods are posted above, surrounding the IK which are all placed in the supercharged slots. Go into space, and divert power to weapons. Finally, decreasing enemy strength in combat settings actually multiplies your dps, by around 2.5. That’s how I achieved these stats, lmk your thoughts or if you have anything higher.

I would like the exploration of abandoned buildings, space stations or freighters to be more related to the elements of horror and danger.

It is the lack of such strong elements of horror that makes exploration very shallow in places. You can see an abandoned building in the distance.

What’s in there?

Why was it abandoned?

I would like to see shivers down my spine at such moments at the thought that there may be some unspeakable evil hiding there, just waiting for the stray Traveler.

This moment accompanied me for the first time when I docked to an abandoned space station and I was greeted by the red glow at the entrance. Flying into the darkness and fear of leaving the ship. It is a pity that apart from the atmosphere element, the station turned out to be completely empty and disappointing. Logs in abandoned buildings and terminals suggest that some dark things were happening to their authors, but we do not have a chance to find out about it ourselves in the game.

I hope Hello Games will develop this element more by drawing inspiration from various games like “Dead Space”, “Alien”, “Pitch Black” where the threat comes when the planet goes dark.

It’s not about just placing monsters that can kill us quickly, but maybe something like various anomalies, multidimensional creatures or things even using cheap “jumpscares” but catching the player by surprise and not able to be counteracted by a powerful character with a lot of suit upgrades.

OMG... I escaped this rock!

OMG... I escaped this rock!

So I’m doing Expedition 7, which is permadeath (decidedly not my thing), and I got to the second anchor point’s memory section, which happens to be close to a giant plateau on top of super steep cliffs. I’m thinking the jetpack trick will get me right back up to my ship, so I follow the signal off the side of the cliff, interact with the grave and escape some sentinels feeling fine and and dandy, and then I go to do the jetpack trick and…. it doesn’t work. I keep getting these weird hitches, and then I’d run out of fuel and fall. I try to summon my ship, and it says I need 125% fuel to call it, which isn’t even possible. I attempt to corkscrew my way through the mountain, but there is too much of it that can’t be manipulated. I cut notches into the side, but they are too shallow, and I keep falling off because the jetpack won’t stay still.

It was getting late, so I decided I’d better build a base just in case. There are raging firestorms on this planet, and I wasn’t going to solve the problem in that session. At that point, I asked you guys for help. I named my base “Help Me Build a Teleporter Please!.” One of you guys suggested manipulating terrain on the side of the mountain, but the jetpack was too finicky, and I couldn’t do this very well. I don’t have plans for a landing pad, so that wouldn’t work. All other bases and stations were more than 3 hours away. I have probably two thirds of this expedition done, and I didn’t want to lose all that progress!!

So what happened? I built floors and walls up most of the side of the mountain and got more than halfway up. I summoned the Minotaur every so often to brave the storms… and then I fell. My jetpack and rocket boots were damaged and I didn’t have the materials to fix the rocket boots. Undeterred, I continued my construction project but noticed that my jetpack was functioning normally and I wasn’t getting some of the weird hitches I was getting before. I went to the top of my scaffold and thought to try the jetpack trick one more time, and it worked!!! I gloriously jetted to the top of the mountain and found my ship. I got out of there as fast my little solar sails would take me. It was the god**** rocket boots glitching out that caused all of these issues. I made it though! Hopefully I can finish up the other milestones a bit more painlessly and get my frigate.

I love the new added depth to standing, frigates and trading!

I know the space stations and ship building are the highlights and everyone is talking about them, but I just wanted to share my love for some features that I seriously appreciate but aren’t really talked about:

First, I’ve always complained about the standing system being completely pointless. Even when Outlaws came out and gave us the ability to reset our standing, I kept thinking there was no point for it, apart from like one mission being locked off, it genuinely felt like the numbers you saw in your catalogue were completely detached from the actual gameplay. So I’m finally overjoyed that it has a genuine purpose now with discounts! Prices in station shops reflect your standing with the race and it tells you by how much! It’s a start I’d say, but a really impactful one too!

The guild now also has a physical presence and no longer feels like some imaginary concept that was also entirely detached from the game and only existed as a number in your catalogue. Now they’re actually in the game (I still haven’t figured out what determines which one of the 3 appear in stations) and raising standing with them is actually really encouraging since they give you some really useful items either for free or at a discount. Increasing standing with them is also much easier now with the new donation mechanic rather than doing missions.

Next, the frigate expeditions once again always felt like an imaginary thing; you sent them out on expeditions, waited a few hours, and they’d say what happened and you had to pretend it was true while they gave you the loot. Now there’s an actual consequence that you get to be involved in. Instead of the whole thing being a passive money making thing, they occasionally ask you for advice or help protect them from enemies. One time I was asked to warp to their location and land on a frigate so I could read a message they found and they asked me what to do… turns out the language I knew directly affected how much of the text was readable and I could make an informed decision, so knowing the language has more meaning as well!

And lastly, the trading. It was something I knew existed but 100% ignored. But now the economy scanner has a new function where you can choose to detect economy surges and it’ll tell you which system to invest what in, and it’s on a timer so it’s like a little mini game to get rich. Trading is actually kinda fun now that there’s an actual guided mechanic around it.

Underground Base Build

Underground Base Build

Piscu-Duca Outpost, Euclid

Been wanting to post this base for eons. It’s my virtual pride and joy. Probably 5 years old so far (I seriously wish there was a way we could see how much time has been invested in a base). I don’t play nearly as often as I used to but random inspiration will strike out of the blue and I’ll lose 3 hours to adding new sections, areas, etc. I can’t imagine ever being finished. Oh! This base predates the new base parts. It was probably half the size when the parts were updated and if you look hard enough, I’m sure you could find a few of the old wooden pieces somewhere. As hard as I worked, I’m sure I missed a swap somewhere.

At my base you’ll find:

  • 8500+ part build
  • No glitch, though a fair amount of overlap
  • Over 60% underground and in preexisting caves
  • Base staff apartments (Scientist, Exocraft tech, and Weapons tech spaces are finished. Overseer’s spot isn’t. The botanist lives on my freighter, though he does have a carbon lab on base)
  • Hidden apartment accesses
  • “Secret” trophy room
  • Above ground Conservatory, access via underground pathing though
  • Underground farming
  • Underground Exocraft garage
  • 2 underground condos
  • Chill planet, though toxic, very green\grey, and otherwise pretty drab. Used to have ancient bones but the reset a few years ago took away that perk.
  • Nearly all wooden construction
  • Solar farm
  • And more…

Do pay me a visit and let me know what you think. I’m sure there’s another 8000 base parts worth of ideas left to be pulled out of this place.
