Day One Players … Let’s Hear Your Stories.

Day One Players … Let’s Hear Your Stories.

I was one of the few who loved the Day One game for what it was, and not mad about what I expected it to be. I took some time away after my initial adventures, playing other games for a time, and even quit gaming entirely for a bit. But around the VR update, I started again. Then I popped on and off over the following years, just checking in on the game, but since Expedition 10, NMS has been in my top 3 most played games, (alternating between Elden Ring and whatever my “bag-log” game is) and I have put a couple hundred additional hours into it. At this moment, NMS is easily my favorite game that I own, and I even went on do a Permadeath run to the center to get that 0.7% Platinum Trophy. This Omega Update has been awesome, and I keep doing the 12th Expedition over and over, to farm the Quick Silver — easily the most enjoyable way of getting Quick Silver, for me — and I have more than a few years of QS shop items to catch up on, because I took a bit of a break.

The main thing I wanted to share was… it has been awesome for me to find the thing I love most in the game, and just focus on that. Scanning Fauna is one example. I love getting that 100% on a planet. And, more recently, I’ve been really enjoying Base Building, and exploring extreme Hazard Planets in an Exocraft on Permadeath, or getting into massive dogfights with the sentinels. Something about the risk makes the game so much more exciting.

Anyway… I just came to poorly share a bit of my journey, and to hear a bit about yours, and way you love doing in the game.

Many already know this but I also see enough posts talking about using the Terrain Manipulator to think this post could help out at least a handful of new Travellers.

Just stand in the correct spot and look down, use the Scanner to stand right above it, the option to hold your system’s button to interact should appear. Least obvious to me where crashed freighter cargo containers. It’s unusual I don’t have to do any digging to access them. I was pulling everything else from the surface for weeks before I realized I could also do cargo pods.

FYI – I haven’t tested this out underwater

On the other hand – the most common time I see people forget to use the Terrain Manipulator is when their objective is in the Ocean – If you swim there, build a platform you can call your ship to, remember to change the size of the block to the max size, it will make making the platform easier/quicker. Way quicker than swimming 800u+ back to your ship.
