NMS HOT POST 2021/10/6

Releasing the results of the 6 months long OMSKIO CAMPAIGN for EisHub. A full region surveyed, 558 systems, 1978 planets (not all explored!), and now a complete wiki page (link below the picture). I hope you like it, I certainly enjoyed doing this for you all in this incredible NMS community!

Seeking the outer edge

So, in a display of petty rebellion after finishing the main story, my partner and I are flying away from the core as far as we can manage in Hilbert dimension. Figured a base on the edge could be cool… but there’s a problem. Still no edge.

The wiki lists the radius of Eculid at 819,000ly, and I was under the impression that most galaxies were the same. Well… closing in on 850Kly now, and still no sign of an end. Has anyone tried this outbound flight before and might share some numbers? How much larger is Hilbert than Euclid?

( Euclid was already absurdly large for an actual galaxy. Our own Milky Way has only about a 45,000ly radius, and the larger Andromeda is still only a bit over 75,000. )
