NMS HOT POST 2022/01/17

I dont have as much time to play as I’d like. So building a base around a portal has taken me a long freaking time. After about two months I’ve finally got around to decorations. Here’s an Alice in wonderland themed hangout spot I’ve just finished

Communication Spheres & Expeditions

I believe it is time for NMS to shut communication (comm) spheres off during expeditions. At least give us an individual option to shut them off / not display them.

There were times during this expedition I could not see the designated POI due to so many of them blocking the target. I’m talking during a single player game, no networking options active.

I’d also like to see the possibility of no base building anywhere near those POI. Again – it could just be an individual option.

What do you think?

This Game continues to amaze me - Cave edition

This Game continues to amaze me - Cave edition

So I found a ‘safe’ Activated Indium planet a few days ago and promptly started to build a base. I also was trying to bury the storage containers by excavating small surface pits and filling them back in. This was quite successful.

Well yesterday I realized there was a MASSIVE mostly underwater cave system that extended for over 1000 meters in several directions. It’s so cool! In the pic below is the large open entrance to the cave. I have taken my exo completely under the lake and come up at two different points on the far side! Some of the water exits open into long tunnels. This cave complex is the largest I have ever found.

In light of the Orbital update: I'm going to start a new game. Should I just start with all blueprin...

To elaborate, I’ve “only” played like 60 hours, most of which were just cruising and chatting with a friend.

So, I’m asking long time players, are there any major downsides to doing this (see title)?

I do enjoy gathering materials and researching planets, flora and fauna. I just don’t want to have to do a specific mission or what have you just to get a fireplace or chair for my base.

Good comparison would be Fallout 4. I love gathering materials and resources to craft stuff and improve my base and my allies. I just don’t want to spend that same amount of time just to gather the recipe of something I want to craft, if that makes sense, which, given Fallout 4’s scale is obviously a lot less of an issue than NMS.
