Freighter Base Builders: Don't sleep on touring system freighter bases for ideas!

Take some time to tour your current batch of star system’s freighters. Fly around, dock with them, and check out their “bases” – there are some really unique ideas in play for the procedurally-generated layouts. I found one last night that totally inspired me. I was actually kind of shocked. Way at the back of one of these bases I found a solitary ladder. It went up several floors, and ended in a single room with doors on all four sides. Outside? A massive exterior area, with walkways that let you look down through the windows into the freighter’s main bridge. It was really amazing.

I’ve also found NipNip grow rooms, and complete kitchen areas, with multiple cooking stations you can, um, “raid” for rare cooking ingredients.

This has now become one of my favorite things to do, usually right before I leave a star system for good, for the most part. Some really cool stuff lurking in NMS now in the distant, hidden places we kind of take for granted (system freighters).

Coming back to NMS since release.

So I was one of the people who was super hyped to play NMS, I was very active on this sub as well before release. Sadly I gave up after just a few hours into the game and refunded it on steam. I kept hearing about the updates that happened but never gave it a second look. Well after I got bored of Starfield after 60 hours, completing all quest lines and not likening the copy-paste planets, I saw NMS on sale and said why not.

Whoa

This game is insane, I am only 6 hours in now and wow, this is so much to do and see. I don’t have a ton of time to play, but I am putting all of free time into NMS, I love the difficulty settings as this is my new chill game to play with a glass of wine. Every planet is fun and new, base building is actually rewarding and the quests are great. I am very happy to see this game really come together after all these years. Yes, the learning curve is crazy high, but it’s well worth learning it.

Glad I came back to NMS, it’s a visual and relaxing treat.

I am absolutely blown away by how good this runs on Switch

I’ve got about 2000 hours between Xbox and PC. I bought the Switch version on launch and it was so-so. I mean I didn’t really expect MUCH in the way of performance.

Must have been one of the recent updates, but holy HELL how did the developers do this!? Between game engine optimization and the raw talent of the HG team, I am beside myself.

I don’t want to reach too deep into my pocket full of dreams but I hope Light No Fire comes to Switch as well. I was literally about to sell my OLED last week until I fired up NMS again.
