I think NMS is overdoing random ships

Don’t get me wrong – seeing action and life in certain places is great – but it is way too frequent and more importantly, it seems way too random. You discover an uncivilized planet at the edge of the system with a few relics from another era. You want to build your base and discover what is there, but every 2 minutes some spaceships fly around close to the surface… doing what exactly?

I would love it if planets and systems had more meaningful parameters for population/traffic density (for example, there is a huge trading platform, so more ships are flying around). But I also like to discover planets that have not been discovered, where you can have your own “edge of the universe” feeling. It is the same with the frequency of pirate ships or massive freighter spawns when you are in outer space…

it feels like the developers were afraid that the game would feel too empty and as a response just let everything randomly spawn everywhere all the time… Perhaps others like this, but for me, it is killing the immersion

Petition to have a ship yard/space port added for freighters. (Either on planets or in space like Fondor in Star Wars)

I think it would be badass to witness multiple freighters docking in the same station. 🤯

Maybe even have it function as another Anomaly in a sense? 🦑

So players could gather and trade and your own crew can move about? I’m not sure if it’s possible currently in game, but if anyone can Do something as amazing as that, its HG

Also rip to my original freighter I had on Xbox. Excited to play it on steam and get another one though…. A better one!

Are Nexus missions the only co-op activity that actually works?

My friend and I have been trying to play together, but it’s getting frustrating.

We tried fighting Sentinels on a Dissonant planet, but the waves never stopped after reaching Rank 5. I would be fighting a large walker and he sees me shooting at the ground towards nothing. We decided to run away to space to trigger a Capital ship, but one spawned for each of us that the other could not see.

I know multiplayer is buggy, but is there anything we can actually do together? Or are we all just cheerleaders in each others universe?

In light of the Orbital update: I'm going to start a new game. Should I just start with all blueprin...

To elaborate, I’ve “only” played like 60 hours, most of which were just cruising and chatting with a friend.

So, I’m asking long time players, are there any major downsides to doing this (see title)?

I do enjoy gathering materials and researching planets, flora and fauna. I just don’t want to have to do a specific mission or what have you just to get a fireplace or chair for my base.

Good comparison would be Fallout 4. I love gathering materials and resources to craft stuff and improve my base and my allies. I just don’t want to spend that same amount of time just to gather the recipe of something I want to craft, if that makes sense, which, given Fallout 4’s scale is obviously a lot less of an issue than NMS.
