Hi fellow travelers. I’m building this guide with images and all and I’ll share with the community soon. Please let me know if there’s anything to add, like some quick tips/reminders.

…………………………………………..

Starting the expedition from an existing save or from scratch

– If you want a new character, a new save, start the expedition from scratch on the main menu. You’ll keep your character, the ships you found, freighter, all multi-tools and items after you end the expedition – the game will convert your expedition save to a normal save.

– If you want you can use an existing character, start the expedition from the Space Anomaly on the Expedition Terminus, then transfer items and copy multi-tools/ships between your main character and the expedition character at any time using the terminus.

Recommended items to transfer

– Before starting the expedition, it’s recommended to transfer some items in the terminus, to save some time and give you more comfort during the journey, like:

Liquid Explosive (or Acid + Unstable Gel, or 25 Mordite + 200 Cactus Flesh + 200 Fungal Mold)
Economy Scanner
Advanced Mining Laser
Analysis Visor Upgrades
Hazard Protection Upgrades
Microprocessors
Wiring Looms
Salt
Crystal Sulfide
Silver
Copper
Cadmium
Emeril
Indium

– The current equipped multi-tool and ship of your main character can be copied to your expedition character and it’ll cost you nanites to do so.

– Your main character looks will be copied/transferred to your expedition character once you start the expedition.

– After you end the expedition, everything that remains in your inventories will be converted to units and your nanites and quicksilver will also be transferred to your main character.

– Don’t forget to copy the Starborn Runner ship (including the Photonix Core tech pre-installed in the ship) and the Atlas multi-tool from the expedition to your main character.

…………………………………………..

Reward: Starborn Runner ship with Photonix Core pulse drive

After you complete every phase of the expedition, you can claim your Starborn Runner ship.

This ship will have a Photonix Core tech installed.

Using the expedition terminus in the Anomaly, you can copy this ship (with the techs installed, but not the cargo items) to your main save.

You’ll then have a Starborn Runner on your expedition save and on your main save.

Before ending the expedition, you can pack the Photonix Core of your ship and send this tech to your main save using the terminus in the Anomaly.

Expedition Omega FAQ

Having finished the expedition (and watched the questions in this forum) here’s a handy FAQ!

General tips

  • Read all the tasks – they don’t have to be done in order. Some of them you can get out of the way early on. (scanning flora / fauna, learning words, pictures of different environments..)
  • At every space station, especially in the rendevous systems, scroll through all the other bases. Some of them will have super helpful names like “Airless photo op” or “Sunken Freighter here” or a list of available resources.
  • Most of the time it’s better to not be in multi-player mode – that will mean that resources others have gathered, beings in stations that have been talked to, ships that have been found – all these will still be available to you, where they probably won’t be in multi-player. However, whenever you visit the Anomaly it is nice to be in multi-player.
  • You can craft ammo out of ferrite. Super helpful for those pesky sentinels. Speaking of Sentinels, you can tunnel underground or dive into the water to escape them. Usually.
  • Once you go through the back hole, immediately go to the space station in that system and use the station teleporter to get back to your base or the previous system. Do NOT try to warp back to the 3rd rendevous, it will just make you frustrated.
  • The very first system you spawned in on has a planet that will work for the hot planet pic.
  • If you are reading this on Feb 19, Tier 5 community research isn’t done yet. If you want the rewards for that, don’t complete the expedition until that is done.

What do I take with me?

  • If you are a new player, not to worry! you will be able to collect what you need. Also look for other bases that are offering things (see tips above) The rest of this guide is for folks who aren’t starting a new save for the expedition.
  • If you have a main save, and want to bring stuff over – here are some things to consider.
    • Basic building blocks: 9999 stacks of carbon, ferrite, sodium, oxygen, chromatic metal, silver, tritium, di-hydrogen, ect
    • Special items: things to claim an interceptor (inverted mirror), things to make liquid explosive (acid, unstable gel), cadmium, salt
    • Things to make or save money: wiring looms, salvaged data, exosuit inventory modules, runaway mold or tainted metal to make nanites, high ticket items to sell (hot ice, floral samples, stasis pods, ect.)
    • Tech row: eh. not as helpful as you’d think, especially if you are bringing over things for nanites and selling. You could drop some S class stuff here for the exosuit? but especially if you plan to “buy” a copy of your multi-tool and ship, those should already be tricked out.
    • In general, the items and upgrades you really need to complete the tasks will be given to you or will be possible to obtain. For instance you start out with a portable refiner. Don’t buy the special star warp upgrades from the Anomaly – you’ll get them as a reward.

What can I take back?

  • All the expedition rewards will be available from the quicksilver booth in the anomaly on any save.
  • If you transferred from your main, you can use the same storage system to send stuff back (like companion eggs, other stuff you’ve collected that’s hard or expensive to get, resources if you want to)
  • Here I found the tech slots much more useful, taking back upgrades for use on other starships/multitools.
  • You will be able to buy back the ship you are in and the primary multi-tool you are carrying, so if you brought stuff over from your main, make sure you are back in them going back. You’ll be able to claim the reward ship and atlas staff at the quicksilver station.
  • Yeah, for real, you can only take back one ship and one multi-tool. so be sure the ones you want are the ones equipped.

What about my money / nanites / bases?

Ok – disclaimer. I haven’t actually completed the expedition yet, I’m waiting for the Tier 5 community research to complete. So I don’t know FOR SURE about this, but here’s what I’ve read.

  • Your bases will be available from your main.
  • Some of the stuff you didn’t take back with you will be converted into units and nanites.
  • Anything you buy with quicksilver on the expedition will also be available to claim on the main.
  • if someone who has completed the expedition wants to chime in with what happened to their units/nanites/quicksilver, that would be much appreciated!

Anything else interlopers? Feel free to chime in with tips or ask questions in the comments!

This game is dangerous (in a good way?)

I have picked up the game again after a break of a year or so… I just played from about 11 am to 10 pm, then too a 2 hour break, then played from 12am to 4 am. I don’t even know if I enjoy the game a great deal compared to my other favorites. There’s just… something about it that makes me want to go on and on and on. I just ended by claiming my first planetary colony thingy which is not something I even knew was in the game. There’s so much badly designed stuff (the galaxy map, terminus menu, dialogue menu, managing multiple starships, unable to sell useless multitools, etc.) and glitchy stuff (animals knocking me miles away, no consequence for raiding freighters, sentinels never lose track of me, etc.) that for any other game I would’ve gotten fed up and stopped playing, but something about this game keeps me glued to the screen even when I never play any other game past 1 am. The feeling I get seeing my freighter fleet warp in is indescribable….

pls send help

Credits Cap Ideas

Credits Cap Ideas

Are there any new worthwhile ways to get the max credits back down by purchasing items? I’m finally at the cap and find that not being able to sell items is a downer.

I’ve thought of buying ships to scrap but that seems wasteful. I could imagine it as a business loss in game though.

I wish we could donate items to some kind of product slot machine or massive project. I stopped selling my lucrative items a long while ago to postpone this issue.

What Do I Do? (Etiquette Help Please)

I just started the game two days ago. No clue what I’m doing. I just made it to the place you can go to tp to community highlights. Anyway, so I’m in what appears to be to me as some actual other person’s star system (a community highlight base, it’s very nice!). Dude discovered it like 2 years ago per the discovery tab. Anyway, I’m exploring his digs, land at what I thought was another of his/her/their bases and the game starts telling me about a distress signal at what seems to be some sort of village and I’m needing to respond/react. Am I messing up this person’s system? How do I back out? I don’t want to trash one of his 5 planets with my noobie chaos….

Serenity

My son left us far too soon, even before I could share my passion for video games with him. I spent months, and I finally found him a little piece of heaven. forever submitted by /u/Federal_Gur_5875 [link] [comments]
