So…I finally got the nudge I needed from one-too-many people saying “but the wall of text is just TL;DR!”
So…I made my first Tutorial video instead.
Including the original Wall-o’-Text for posterity.
Step 1: Get both the Economy & Conflict scanners from the Anomaly’s Ship-Tech vendor. You’ll need a Walker-Brain for the Conflict Scanner.
Step2: In GalaxyMap, sort by Conflict, and choose the red stars. THEN you’re looking for the stars with the pirate symbol (that’s the skull). Travel to that system. You’ll want a bunch of those systems (15-20).
Go to Pirate Systems.
Buy Banned Goods from the vendor on the far-left if you’re looking at it from the Teleporter (under the yellow junked ship).
Buy tech & weapons packages from same dealer (not the next dealer over that sells ‘em for nanites).
Go to a NON pirate system by cycling through one of your bases (you can’t go directly to a Non-Pirate space station from a Pirate system or vise/versa). Sell off the Banned Goods immediately, don’t just fly around with that stuff (a system Scan will get you popped & chased by sentinel ships).
Open all the tech & weapon packages. Sell those to one of the Tech Dealers across on the other platform for nanites.
Lather/rinse/repeat.
Hit a few Freighters IN THE PIRATE SYSTEMS ONLY for more banned goods to sell, to keep your $$$ headed north…so you can keep buying those tech packages. Don’t hit the free-floating Cargo Pods or you lose Standing with whatever Race is dominant in that system.
Develop a LIST of Pirate systems & hit them regularly, they’ll regenerate their inventory for you to buy again about every 30 minutes to an hour. I’ve got 20 in my list. It takes me 30-45 minutes to go through the whole list & nets me about 50k Nanites per rotation.
I keep track of which ones I’ve done by going through the whole list of pirate systems (while in pirate systems, ONLY Non-Pirate systems will say “unavailable” something to that effect), then cycling back to sell off.
That keeps them in order so I can go back for another run later.

This Expedition is a survial expedition – play it like that!
1) You need to die once to get a milestone – do this right at the beginning
2) don’t linger on the first planet. Get your ship repaired, if you can grab some money, thats great. But don’T try to make millions.
3) head to the space station – remember, you can enlarge your inventory twice per system (station/anomaly)
4) always use the free inventory for the “cargo” inventory since it can carry double the amount of the normal one.
5) Ion batteries, life support gel are your live-saver: one “cargo” space can hold 200, use that. Shild batteries for your spacecraft are great as an insurance, too.
6) Often damage goes right to your health points. Store some animal remains (like cat liver), eating them restores your healt points!
7) You know who neither cares about fall-damage (that much) or extreme storms: your minotaur. Yes, it’s slow and cumbersome – but it can get you around on a planet alive.
8) The following rewards from other expeditions help, collect them asap: golden vector (of course), Normandy (since you start with a freigther you can send it to make you money) and the “alien monster egg” (hatching it counts for one of the milestones)
9) you start with a freighter – free storage room! Plus, with a bit of money you can build all ten storage “cubes”
10) The base milestone will send you to the wrong planet: the base has to be built on one of the planets with a meeting point (or at least the same class).

Found a space station sitting within the ring of a planet, which is also an asteroid field with near zero visibility. submitted by /u/I__Zombie [link] [comments]

i’ve been building on this planet for days with no signs of worm infestation, so i was very surprised to see this fella shake things up. submitted by /u/abattlecry [link] [comments]

Nothing more, that what I said, I will like to live inside NMS, in some relaxed mode, and I feel great peace in there….no kids asking “what we gonna eat?!” every day, no wife give in me problems, no accounts to pay…I really will like in other life something like that…. (it’s joke, I love my family!🤣😂😂) But I will like the same.

When you wear a cape, you can still use your jetpack. Would be cool to not need one at all. Some of them are super bulky and throw off my aesthetic. submitted by /u/Grisshroom [link] [comments]

I always build my bases next to a minor settlement. It’s got a landing pad for other trade ships (or for me to use to save on launch fuel in early game)… and an easily accessible trading hub inside.
Any fun little tips you have for bases?

So I’m trying to put down the storage boxes. However, no matter what I try, they always end up being slightly misaligned when I use the snapping function. I already excavated the ground away underneath and placed a floor for them to sit on. What am I doing wrong? submitted by /u/Herefornow211 |
