So, I decided to go to the center of the galaxy for the first time since getting the game. Zoom out, zoom in. I spawn in on a IRRADIATED PLANET, and I was ENTIRELY unprepared! Why is everything broken?! And I don’t have the resources to fix it! Mine it, mine it. That’s dead too! My ship, where’s my ship? Scanner is dead! “Storm incoming.” Welp, embrace the sweet relief of death…. Hold on…freighter. My freighter! Do I still have it? Summon… there it is! And I JUST got the long range inventory teleportation thing yesterday. Mining beam! “Technology recharged.” Terrain manipulator. “Technology recharged.” Now dig! Dig straight down like a Minecraft noob. “Radiation falling.” And now my radiation shield. Rad at 1.9. Thirty seconds elapses. Why is my shield not going back up?… Oh, right, I gotta charge it. “Technology recharged.”

… Holy shit that was the most intense session of my life! Anyone else got similar life or death situations? I’d love to hear it.

Hi everyone. *** RANT INCOMING

I saw one post recently on this subreddit, where someone mentioned this. And they mentioned how because of this, the game is incredibly shallow.

And even though I love the game (close to 400hours in it now), I kind of agree with them.

– I’m minmaxing the DPS for my Infra-Knife (70k+) on my fighter ship(s).
– I’m getting all my frigates to S-class.
– I have fully upgraded all my Freighter modules and stuff, all S-class. My fleet coordination is at 100+.
– I’m trying to get either more reputation or get fully fluent in at least one of the faction languages.
– I’m discovering planets, and putting portals on the different galaxies I go to, to go back to them whenever I want.
– I’m leveling up my settlement and trying to make it look good, make people happy, and be very productive.

I could go on, but these are activities that I do, and many others as well.

And here’s the key question… WHAT FOR?

Has anyone thought about all this at any point? Maybe we just do these activities because, even though there’s no “point” or end goal in doing any of them, the activities themselves are fun?

I’ll keep playing it. I fucking love it. But, I’d love for it to have a lot more depth to the systems it has.

If you have more than a few hundred hours in the game, what do you like doing the most? Would you like the system to have more… “depth” or just like, more reasons to do the content? Or do you like it just the way it is? Why, or why not?

I’m completely fine with galaxy warping destroying all of your gear I think that forcing you to make a material sacrifice for reaching a new galaxy is prefectly fine and even then it can still be mildly negated by swapping ships/multitools. My main problem though especislly as a console player is how long it spends going through to repair everything. You can’t just hover over everything and press a repair button you have to go into a sub menu for each individual technology upgrade and honestly it’s the one thing holding me back from taking the time to discover every galaxy. I’m 130 hours into the game and I’ve only reached the third and I really would love to keep going but the process of repairing all my items is just too timeconsuming for me to care. Really hope we could get this in the near future
