PSA: The last Phase of Expedition 2 requires community progress. Here's how to help and how to check...

Seeing lots of questions about this, so hoping a single thread will help (maybe get this stickied or something?)

Phase 5 Step 3 of Expedition 2 requires you to get the Myth Beacon from the Quicksilver agent. But Oh No – it seems to be locked! That’s because this portion requires THE ENTIRE NO MAN’S SKY COMMUNITY to work together to progress it.

HOW DO I HELP?

The previous step only asked you to visit 3 ancient artefacts and scan them for Polo and Nada. That’s the minimum requirement. You can help by doing MORE THAN 3. There are two ways to do this efficiently:

  1. Go sell all of your Navigation Data for Planetary Charts, and start using them!
  2. Unlock the scanner modules for your Exocraft, find a big planet, and start scanning!

Either way, sending this scan data to Polo is what drives the progression, so the more you do, the faster we get to 100%

HOW DO I CHECK THE PERCENTAGE?

If you’re in-game, you can visit the Quicksilver merchant on board the Anomaly. You can also select the related mission in your Primary Log tab to see the status.

But honestly, that’s kind of a pain. It’s much easier to use this site: https://galacticatlas.nomanssky.com/poi/anomalous-research

HOW LONG DO WE HAVE TO GET THIS DONE?

Well, technically, we have 13 days (14 days from Monday, May 17th). HOWEVER, we’re only on Step 3 of 5, so who knows what will be required for Steps 4 and 5. Thus, the faster we can get through this step, the faster we can find out what else might be needed from the community.

Starfield is an excellent opportunity for this community to show grace and class

Since yesterday, I’ve seen some No Man’s Sky fans mocking Starfield (sometimes seriously, sometimes not). Calling it copied homework, saying “I bet it can’t do [insert feature] better than NMS can,” saying it’ll be broken and disappointing like other Bethesda games, etc.

Regardless of what you think about Starfield, crapping on the game is not a good look for the No Man’s Sky community. The similarities between the two games are obvious, so lots of people will be looking to No Man’s Sky fans to see what they say. I’ve frequently heard that this is one of the friendliest and most helpful gaming communities on Reddit, and I would personally agree. Becoming snarky about another high profile space exploration game could taint that reputation pretty fast.

Just want to encourage everyone here to be friendly and supportive of Starfield. I would be willing to bet that’s what Sean Murray would like to see from us as well. He’s suffered his own share of internet jeering, and likely wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

And honestly, my hunch is that the two games will be different enough that they’ll survive alongside one another just fine. Here’s to many more hours of fun in both games for years to come!
