What is the fastest planetary speed possible?

What is the fastest planetary speed possible?

I’ve reached 900 with

  • S class interceptor with a square supercharged slot
  • 8 phase engine modules
  • power diverted to engines
  • boost active

Asking to see if I am near a reasonable maximum, or if someone was legitimately able to get much higher.

Seems the base speed of my interceptor is 148, not sure if that is per ship type or is random.

Discuss my no doubt unpopular opinion. (Random NMS Screenshot)

Discuss my no doubt unpopular opinion. (Random NMS Screenshot)

I guess it’s normal, but I find it weird when I read people wanting to bring other items they find popular (ex: lightsaber/swords from SW, ship customization from SF, MP combat) or practical Earth things (ex: realistic space flight physics) into No Mans Sky. It’s unimaginative, this kind of making NMS just like every other game. I think Sean is pretty true to his vision and HG’s successful style but I see when game devs actually start listening to this “watering down” of their game, it means that game is done with.

what starships are most popular right now?

i’m a new player who’s finished the main story/tutorial and played for about a hundred hours. i’ve really enjoyed hunting for new starships and seeing how much variety there is, and it got me wondering what the community considers popular/cool/trendy. i’m not going to change my choices in ship accordingly or anything, i’m just curious to see more of what the game has to offer and what other players are into rn!! feel free to include pics if you like 🙂

I have no idea if this is going to get me crucified or not, but... The Atlas Path is insanely boring...

I did the thing that a lot of us do, and I completely ignored most of the main quests up until yesterday. For like a couple hundred hours. Which meant I had all the milestones required for each step of the path, and a well-equipped ship that could jump from station to station easily.

Which means the path was essentially: Fly to station, not understand half of what was being said because I was picking up words as I went, read the dialogue, get blueprint for thing, warp in freighter with storage full of resources, make thing, repeat. Over and over and over.

This is the part that I worry is going to get me a lot of flak. The writing doesn’t do it for me in this game. I’m not going to delve into that, because I’m sure plenty enjoy it, but I don’t play for the writing at all. But even if I liked the writing, go here, listen, craft quest item, repeat, is not exactly engaging gameplay. And that’s the whole quest. As long as you have the milestones and prerequisites, that’s it. like 10 times in a row. I get that doing actual quests in a procedural game this size would be a different task than in other games, but this really felt phoned in, and I’m more than a bit disappointed in it.

PSA: Don't choose to transfer your base when claiming a pirate freighter (at least on Switch)

I play on Switch and this might be a Switch-specific bug, but wanted to post a warning to others just in case: I spent 20+ hours over a couple of weeks save-scumming for an S class pirate freighter. After dozens of space battles and a disheartening number of C classes, I finally found an S class. I went up to the captain to claim the ship, elected to transfer the base from my current freighter to my sweet new S class pirate freighter…and the game crashed. Restore point and autosave were from prior to defeating the freighter and it had changed to a C class when I reloaded and tried again.

It was pretty damn devastating…

So I dismantled my current freighter base and as a test I tried claiming the next pirate freighter I encountered (C class…of course), and sure enough I had no problem when I chose to claim the freighter and said “no” to transferring my existing base.

Like I said, maybe it’s only a Switch problem but pretty horrible if you encounter it. Especially since my base isn’t all that special so if I knew the bug existed, I gladly would’ve ditched my existing base.

Importantly in my test I accidentally left a couple materials from dismantling my freighter base in the core freighter storage, so I got an additional warning about the freighter inventory before the base transfer question. So out of paranoia I’m leaving 1 carbon in my freighter inventory so the next time I find an S class, I’ll be replicating the exact scenario where it didn’t crash. But my guess is the inventory warning doesn’t matter.

FWIW I have reported the bug on ZenDesk, not the most critical bug but pretty frustrating for people in my situation.
