NMS HOT POST 2022/11/7

For the love of Henry why does this game have to be so noisy!

Made myself a nice base by the sea on a paradise planet. The sound of the surf and the birds. Relaxing…

The engine on my starship never turns off. The engine on my Roamer never turns off. There's a constant stream of traffic overhead. It's like they put in a Hyperspace Bypass! Actually it's like they put in six. The ships come from all directions but their flightpaths just happen to coincidentally cross right over my base. Now I've got that modded Sentinel hanging around noising the place up!

And don't even get me started on the 3 fleets of freighters and frigates that boom in every time I leave a station or planetside…

Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the game and it's great that there is noticeably other entities in the universe doing their own thing but jeezlooeez…

Do I have to go play E:D just for some peace and quiet?

The Colossus Exocraft needs a gimmick.

Prior to Waypoint, the biggest advantage of the Colossus was that you could install every available tech module and still have lots of cargo space left over. Now with all inventories being expanded, there’s really no reason to pick it over any of the smaller and faster vehicles.

I think this could be solved with some new tech modules to essentially turn it into a mobile base. First, a built-in advanced refiner and nutrient processor. These would fit into the tech inventory similar to the personal refiner in the exosuit. Second, an AI cannon controller. This would be less intrusive than the Minotaur AI, which can get in your way and just generally be annoying. The Colossus AI would only control the turret, and automatically fire on nearby hostiles. On planets with passive or absent sentinels, it could also mine nearby objects. This would only happen when you’re not driving, of course.

Thoughts?

Huh, that’s neat

Glyphs are in screenshot, it is on Euclid Galaxy, and it’s at coords -28.64, -142.14 on planet Snomchus Signa (I did not change the name). I’ve never seen anything like it. submitted by /u/Thee-Plague-Doctor [link] [comments…

Let me map planets

I wish the planets had an actual map in the discovery screen, where you could see each waypoint discovered and spin the globe. I feel like it would very simply add a lot of depth to a shallow experience So many things they could flesh out in this game…

Play past expeditions today(only on pc, sorry console people)

One question that I’ve seen asked quite often is if it is possible to play past expeditions, and people usually answer that aside from the four redux expeditions at the end of the year, you can’t, officially, that is the only way. However, there is a very easy and safe workaround that allows you to play any expedition at any time.

The data of all the past expeditions is still in the game, but these expeditions can no longer be accessed. However, there’s a file named SEASON_DATA_CACHE.json that controls the start and end dates of the expeditions, the milestones, the rewards, and a bit more. By editing this file, you can make these expeditions playable again without messing with the actual game files or your save file. JSON files are a bit hard to read and understand at first, but someone on github has already modified the file for all past expeditions, even accounting for the inventory system change in the Waypoint update. It’s literally just drag and drop; just make sure to read the readme files first, there’s a very good tutorial and notes about the expeditions, like bugs and possible workarounds.
