NMS HOT POST 2022/11/21

I’m new to the game and just made it to the anomaly, some random player gifted me 300 million units worth of Ai valves and now I feel like the game is ruined since I can but whatever I want now, should I discard them all? (I’ve already bought a nice ship)

So I was fighting off some sentinel interceptors and we got to the point where the capital ship turn...

…but the darn thing somehow materialised around my ship! This was a bit awkward as I kept bumping into the sides and internal bulkheads and collecting collision damage. On the other hand, I couldn’t miss when I fired as it was in pretty much every direction. I did try to fly out, but couldn’t find a way. Couldn’t really tell in the confusion if the interceptors (and defence turrets) were hitting me, or their own battleship, though they were definitely still out there, as I got a few glimpses.

Wasn’t too hard to destroy, as I had plenty of sodium in, though I did need to recharge the shields a couple of times. And once it exploded, I could just fly away. I just wondered if this happened a lot (random chance, I guess) or its a freak occurrence?

Two seater ships should be a thing

Playing multiplayer sessions has injected a fresh boost into my NMS playthrough, I’m now having regular weekly sessions with a friend in the next town over and we’ll often talk though the week about the plan for the next session.

During our last session, my friend was getting tired of flying his ship, but wanted to keep shooting pirates in system. I prefer to fly the ships and don’t have much patience with space combat in this game. So suddenly the idea of the two seater ships enters the conversation – wouldn’t it be cool if that was a thing? After all, we’re usually flying around together making mischief but the idea of a dedicated gunner holds some merit in the context of the multiplayer experience. Maybe this could be possible with something that amounts to a bomber class vessel?

Building items....

So I know there is the base building items you obtain in the anomaly and the ones through the quicksilver shop but I just found out about the items in pirate stations you can buy for tainted metal..i knew there were items to buy but not base building items… my question is.. are there any off the beaten path vendors or stations or trade terminals that have rare base parts? I’d like to collect everything I can for my building 👷‍♂️. Thanks traveler’s!

What types of missions would give me a Doctor Who roleplay feel?

I’m still pretty new to the game, just got my first freighter and settlement. I love exploring.

But the specific roleplay experience I’m looking for is to: Go somewhere, maybe random
Land my ship on a planet and generally not rely on it for inner atmosphere travel or saving my ass
Find someone who needs help or that something needs to be improved, which I’d be able to do without leaving the planet and not just pulling the fix from my inventory
Then I make my way back to my ship having “saved the day” and off to find someone else in need

Are there missions which fit this experience, either that the mission sends me there or that it’s something to do when I find a settlement which I’m not the leader of? If there’s these types of on-planet missions settlements give, I could warp into a system, search the closest settlement, land there, and do whatever local dangerous things they need.
