LOL, I'm definitely playing the game wrong...

Something like 425 hours in, I’ve been mostly just exploring and finding crashed ships, building bases, etc…

I finally felt I was ready to try and take on a Sentinel Cruiser, got my squadron built, and took one out. I got a message about a Harmonic signal, and figured that something special was going on. Nope, it took me to a Sentinel ship, and I restored it like normal. Been flying around for awhile, even engaged the Pulse Drive. There seems to be no more mission beyond restoring the ship. SO I would say that was a relatively early mission. Otherwise, I find no mission tied to the ship, and no messages came up while under the Pulse Drive. I really did just get a lesson in how to restore a Sentinel ship over 400 hours in. 🙂

Shows just how wonderful all of the non-mission stuff in this game is.

Finally found my perfect planet.

So I finally found the planet I’ve been searching for for 150 hours, it’s a paradise planet with medium length white grass and purple skies. It has no storms, some really cool fauna and golden trees. I usually build my base within 300u of a planet’s glyph portal. I did the same with this one; went to building my base and noticed that it was dawn/dusk for an unusually long amount of time. After an hour or two, I was confused so I climbed the nearest mountain and used photo mode to change the time of day. The sun never sets but just skirts along the horizon leaving me in perma-dawn/dusk. I’m assuming that the glyph portal and subsequently my base are both on the northern pole of the planet and the sun is perpendicular to the axis of my planet. It’s really cool and I’m just mind blown that after 300 hours total playing the game I’ve never experienced this. Have any of you?

Don't COMPLETE This Game

I’ve seen with the 4.0 update and now the redux expeditions, along with quite a few posts that a lot of players are stressed about what they HAVE to get or do.

Don’t be a completionist. You don’t need the “best” freighter, ship, multi tool, or anything else. Just do what you want. Get the first freighter that’s free of it looks cool to you. Use a subpar multi tool because it does what you need. Build a lame 4 room base. It’s OK.

This whole game revolves around a story of repeated failing simulations in which the actions of those within really don’t matter. That gives you the freedom to do whatever you want. Don’t hamper your fun with obsessively reloading saves to get the “right” ship or freighter, just get what you want. Don’t stress about missing out on an expedition, all the rewards are pixels on a screen.

This isn’t against the completionist players or the min-maxers. If that’s what you WANT to do, I just see too many posts of people asking if they should do this or that, and you need to know this-

In a universe of infinite possibilities, all of them are correct. Have fun – don’t complete goals.

How best to indicate I have gifts I'd like to share with consent

I’m on PS4 so unfortunately can’t communicate easily. I’d like to respect not tele-dumping unasked for items into people’s inventories, well-intentioned or not. Setting my title to “- the Generous” feels like such a failed flex instead of an invitation. Just earlier I made the mistake of waving / gesturing with “over here!” only to be bombarded with generosity from other players which was so wholesome but literally the opposite of what I wanted haha. Should I shelf my Santa-complex for now and trust that if other players wanted something they’d ask for it?
