Got inspired and helped my 6 year old build some ships. Using very limited parts here!

We’ve all seen planets with crazy storms, or planets that are devoid of life, or ones with aggressive sentinels that shoot on sight. These are not that unusual. But every now and then, a planet pops up that is just so noxious that it gets permanently burned into your mind. These are the zero-star-rating planets that suck the joy out of the rest of the solar system. Mine came many, many years ago when the game was first released. It was a beautiful garden planet teeming with life according to the scanners, almost no sentinels, and the first I found with floating islands. So I landed, got out of my ship…and died so fast I didn’t even have time to react. I didn’t know it at first, but I was hit from behind and the sides by multiple predatory crabs and crab-mantises. And then I respawned, and died again, almost as fast. I don’t even remember how I lived through the second respawning; I must have jumped in my ship fast enough to avoid the instadeath. And that’s when I saw them: dozens, literally dozens, of crabs and crab-mantises, all with super speed (I don’t think super speed crabs and crab-mantis predators are a thing anymore, or at least, I’ve not seen any in the last couple of updates). I flew around for a bit, trying to find a safe landing spot, but everywhere I touched down there were predators around my ship and in the distance. Until I found a building by sheer luck, and was able to jump out and run for it. I turned around just inside the entrance, where you are far enough in to be safe from attack, but not far enough to disable your scanner. That’s when I got this screenshot: Every one of those green dots is a predator, too. But only 5 were in range. The entire planet was nothing but supercharged predators. submitted by /u/SkySchemer |

I used to fight pirates with the standard photon cannon on my Radiant Pillar. I struggled and felt uneasy about dogfights, and since the game occasionally keeps throwing pirates at me and some missions contain killing pirates, I decided it’s geking time to grade up. No regrets.
Long story short: grab the Positron Ejector, fellow noobs.

Long ago, NMS only allowed players to own a single ship, making it a major decision on which ship type a traveler should go after. However, realizing this felt clunky, updates have been made over the years, ship slots increased, new tech modules, and new features added. This was a great call, but it did leave one mark: the distinctions between each ship didn’t matter anymore; Haulers don’t even have the benefit of additional cargo space, since all S-class ships can have the same total number of slots.
I was talking ship perks with someone, and it got me thinking that perhaps it would make sense to introduce new strengths to less used ship types. As I was mulling it over, I realized that some of these changes would have to be pretty potent to stand up to current-day standards — poor Shuttles, their only real signature is that their takeoff price is reduced, made obsolete by the auto-recharge modules. So I decided to spitball a few ideas trying to stay true to the ship’s purpose while taking 2024 NMS in mind, and see if the following suggestions are strong enough to make you think “oh yeah, I’d definitely want to own a [ship type].”
Shuttles:
Haulers:
Living:
Explorer:
Let me know if these are along the right lines, and whether you’d fly one of these if they had these perks.

El title.
Why bother to name stuff if you’re the only one who can ever see the name? Is there a way to let others see the name?

While I struggle with anxiety so it is difficult for me to egg myself into the multiplayer scene in the game, I just have to applaud ALL of you guys. This is the most non-toxic gaming community I think I’ve ever seen and I have been a gamer for a goood…

I re-boarded my freighter after a lengthy reconnaissance mission and wanted to send my frigates out.
So, I visit The Navigator, and he gives me the list of expeditions (not Expeditions) and it’s all low star trips, three 2** and two 1*.
Would love to see more 3‘s, as well as any 4* and 5*****, which I’ve never seen. What’s up with that?
That’s all.
Gray, over and out.
