I’d like to thank Sean for revisiting the last expedition. It was good.

  • Every phase has rendesvous mission which rewards 1k nanites and expansion slots. Some missions reward S-grade hyperdrive upgrade modules. If you clear these first, you can move efficiently. (There is also a mission that gives 3 warp hypercores as a reward.)
  • You start with 1 random companion. As soon as you start, summon the companion, ride it, and take a picture to easily get 50 creature pellets and 500,000 units for later use. Also it has 95% affection, so just pet and feed it and you’ll achieve Enduring Friendship right away.
  • There are missions that can be done simultaneously. For example you can do Digestive Analysis and Terrestrial Snaps while doing Swarmed missions. You can also do Sweet Tooth after Best-Laid plans, then A Discerning Palate right after. Don’t forget that some missions have rewards that can help you complete other missions!
  • Scan often. On missions, you will need to scan several flying animals, 4 aquatic creatures and 1 exotic animal. Also, there are missions where you have to collect 5 creatures eggs, long eggs, and large eggs, so it’s good to scan them in advance. If you see a large quadrupedal animal, it’s likely they’ll give you eggs when you feed them (I’ve heard it’s related to the animal class, but don’t know the details)
  • Take a good tour of the rendezvous planet. As far as I remember, there is a Diplo on the first planet, and a beetle on the second planet.
  • If you want to find an abyssal horror, adopt a beetle to get Nautilon blueprints, gather materials to craft, then craft a high-powered sonar in the tech slot and scan the sunken building. It’s there, so you just have to get close and escape when you’re being ‘watched’.
  • Upon completing the mission A Crowded Universe, you receive a Jetpack Power Surge buff for 300 seconds. Save it and use it to complete missions on planets with bone fossils! You can move around very fast and dig up bones fast!
  • Missions do not have to be completed in order. If there’s a mission you think you can beat first, do that first! The more rewards you accumulate, the easier your progress will be!
  • Quests that give explorer reputation include taking pictures of certain environmental planets, killing sentinels, scanning flora and fauna, etc. After warping, enter the space station to check and accept the quest! It will come in handy later when completing the Famous Explorer mission!

And that’s all. If you have any questions, feel free to write them in the comments. Have a nice journey!

Crazy high naturally occurring spike.!

Crazy high naturally occurring spike.!

I found this insane spike / mountain in NMS. I’m not the greatest base builder, so if any real builders have any cool ideas or inspiration for something, I’d be happy to relinquish the base, Or maybe some teamwork?

Extreme weather planet though, so makes for some tough building.

DM if you’re interested! Planet might have more than one, as well. We can investigate.

Help! My paving had a cool retro pattern, and now it's gone. Was it a bug or a feature?

Help! My paving had a cool retro pattern, and now it's gone. Was it a bug or a feature?

I started building a base next to an outpost, and the paving had this cool circle/star/petal pattern as in the second picture. The colors changed on it accordingly, it looked awesome. All pavings consistently had that pattern and I don’t recall clicking on anything to pick it. I scrapped that base and moved a bit over to start it again, and the paving was back to it’s boring self. I went back to the outpost to recreate the first try, but paving is still nonpatterned. I tried clicking on all colors/materials but I can’t get it to be like that again. Am I missing something, am I tripping??

I'd really appreciate some kind of "vault" for MTs and ships.

I’m a collector, and I like keeping unique things. I have a couple of expedition ships, as well as the Atlas Staff from the last expedition. The staff and ships are not in my regular use pool of stuff, but getting rid of them appears to mean that I can’t ever get them back. At the expedition rewards vendor, all these things say “previously claimed.” which I’m assuming means they’re one and done. With such a small number of ships and MT’s that we’re able to keep (relative to the massive number of cool looking stuff you can collect.) I feel like a lot of very precious space is getting eaten up by keeping these unique things.

I feel stuck between a rock and hard place. I want to keep the cool looking unique stuff that I don’t think I can get back if I scrap, but I also would like more room.

Even if we can’t keep anything other than the most essential tech on them in “storage” I think it would be great if we had some way to keep more than just 6 MTs and 12 ships. For a game that’s primarily about seeing everything and discovering stuff, we don’t get much in the way of space for the things that matter.
