Big things are coming for exploration, from a data miners perspective

I know all of us explorers are feeling very, very left out. Although I am happy for the base builders, this did not feel like an update for us. But! I have some very interesting insight/news to share

Over 100k files have been changed, which is insane, considering NEXT had about 90k, so by technicality, this is one of the biggest updates for game.

There have been some very interesting file changes and system changes as well.

There appears to be a new system in which Flora, assets, and buildings can be dynamically placed. Meaning that they aren’t constrained towards a certain biome and they can theoretically have procedural assets, density, and sizes

The second thing that is being worked on (atleast from the file changes) is a system that can generate entire new planets, without having to rebuild new ones. (Think of origins but without any of the changes to the OG planets) this indicates that either, A. They are working on new planet types/biomes. Or B, they are planning to introduce a completely new galaxy(s)

The third and most interesting thing, is that they appear to be working on a base blue print system. I have very limited info to work with, other then a few files with the name BASEBLUEPRINT, etc.

And the most common one that people seem to talk about is that they are heavily working on water both visually and mechanically.

I would provide screenshots and what not, but it doesn’t really translate well over pictures, it would look like gibberish and make no sense. I am happy to send info or “proof” to anyone who is curious in dms!.

I know there is this rumor flying around that this wasn’t the “big” update. The version number and what not sort of lead me to believe that, however. The biggest red flag is the files themselves. I believe that the “big” update is still on the horizon, and I, as an explorer; am very hopefully about the future of this lovely game 😀

I didn't know I needed this game

For real, I am having such a blast playing NMS. I bought the game 3 days ago and already have more than 12 hours of playtime!

I usually have my troubles with exploration games, but wow, NMS feels completely different. Playing in my own pace and just slowly but steady learning new stuff feels so awesome and I can’t wait to build my first real base one day – when I unlocked the necessary blueprints haha

I also installed a bunch of mods that even more diversify the terrain generation and skycolors, it’s just so awesome.

Sorry for this nonesense post but I just felt like sharing this because I have so much fun playing it.

How many bases do you have? Really though?

I have developed the habit of constantly building bases on any planet that interests me, even a little bit. I almost never return to most of them, except to avoid lengthy travel or to harvest a resource when I can’t find enough in trade. I think I have twenty-five or more bases now. Should I delete them and try to just keep one base? How many bases do you have and/or use regularly? Edit: autocorrect

Can I create a custom squadron from ships I would be scrapping otherwise?

So here’s what I was thinking. You can hire an NPC to your squadron from any space station for example, right? Now what happens if BEFORE hiring them I buy their ship by swapping it with one of my ships that I would be scrapping otherwise? Will I get THAT ship to join my squadron?

Obviously it depends on the pilot too how well they will do in a fight, but this way I could have a squadron made up of Living Ships or fully equipped Sentinel Interceptors, right? Or, in theory I can claim the Starborn Runner as many times as I want if I’ve finished the expedition, can I just keep selling a Starborn Runner by swapping with them AND hire said pilot equipped with the Starborn Runner now? Can I have a full squadron of them?

I’ll test this out soon with a sentinel that I’d scrap otherwise and get back to you, but if this works I think it is huge, so much potential to create an amazing fight squadron this way!
