NMS HOT POST 2023/11/20

This game is extremely broken

Still one of the best games I’ve played, and still fun, but quality of life updates are drastically needed. I’m experiencing the following bugs:

  1. Friends consistently getting the message that I have left the system, and I get it vice versa. It’s almost impossible to play together with friends and build anything.

  2. When trying to join friends game, 95% of the time you get “Lost Connection to Server/Host” until you both restart your game a few times. Then when you finally connect, #1 above happens instantly lol.

  3. Base uploading doesn’t seem to work very well. My friend uploaded his base multiple times in the last few days. However, when he’s not online, his base is gone. We built an airport and I added the decorations. Now if someone were to come visit, the decorations just float until he comes online in the system. Better hope #1 doesn’t happen lol.

  4. I placed a base computer and then deleted it via the computer menu. Now the entire proximity is completely locked and says “Base already claimed”. There’s now a floating indicator saying a base is there but there’s no computer. No resolution. Just bad code writing.

  5. Random glitches when flying where I’m getting stuck in pregenerative boulders because they fail to load at the speed I’m flying.

  6. Hanging out in the Anolomy and the entire population disappears. My assumption is this is also problem #1. I laugh every time it happens.

Need a quality of life update before content. These are simple things that every, literally every other game has locked down.

As a worldbuilding nerd, this game's lore is beyond brilliant. (Spoilers)

Title. I just beat the main story, and as a cosmic horror fan I absolutely love how the devs took a game with no story and turned it into a lovecraftian meta-commentary on the game’s development cycle. The way I interpret it each update that gets implemented is a canon event in which the Atlas introduces a new element into it’s universe, bringing us further along the sixteen minutes. This also heavily implies that the sixteen minutes will only end when the game stops being developed and updated. It’s wild how such a simple premise has been transformed into this introspective, existentialist story that left me with that same bittersweet feeling other of my favourite media gives me.

Bravo, hello games.

And I’m so sorry Artemis ;_;

Can't help but to notice the similarities between the Beyond Teaser and the 2024 Teaser ... My Thoughts

The 2024 Teaser and Beyond Teaser are very similar. Both feature the exact same music, the exact same kind of zooming out (one in the new space stations, and one at the time the new Anomaly)

I cannot help but think that this year will be different for NMS and that they are going to pass up on the small updates, and release something huge and significant this summer.

The space stations were leaked almost a year ago, and were almost complete, except for the interior. I doubt that it took another whole year to design the interiors. My guess is there is a lot more to the update than just new space stations … I’m thinking a revamp of the whole game, with a whole new significant story.

I think the updates over the past few years are building up to something significant. With all of the combat, pirates, new sentinels, autophage, dissonant worlds, the void mother lore, pirate dreadnought, and the known new space stations, I think there will be a huge new story to tie everyrhing together.

I really hope this is the case, as I would love an update that gives me a reason to play for a long period of time, possibly start a new game … rather than these smaller updates that keep me occupied for a week or so.

Expeditions would continue to be added to help keep us busy, but let’s hope for something amazing and huge in the summer!!!

Has anyone figured out space stations for ship building?

So is there any rhyme or reason to the space stations, or is everyone just hopping from station to station, looking for the right number of Supercharged slots?

I know some people are posting glyphs, but I’m wondering if anyone has figured out any kind of pattern.

Also, FWIW, the refiner exploit works for ship parts… 😜

It IS kind of fun to hunt for parts, though.
