Hi I just started playing No mans Sky like genuinely for the first time and I got rare ships?

So I started Playing NMS genuinely for the first time and I was in a space station and two of these dumb looking ships landed simultaneously I bought them cuz I wanted to be like

"Hahaha Squid ship." To my friend who plays the game with me turns out these are super rare?

I didn't have coordinates or anything as I still don't even have portals I just started watching YouTube vids on the game for the first time ever and everyone is saying

"People hunt for hundreds of hours looking for it and most don't ever find it."

I just wanted to know are these really rare I can prove I don't have portals if possible, I've attached my current missions to show I haven't gotten to far into the game I have like 50 or so hours in the game on my steam is says 157 but I left the game on after falling asleep assuming that was the only way for my O2 farm to work if I was online

Are you new player looking for some tips to get you started? Are you a veteran player with some advi...

Here’s some of the FAQ suggestions we received in our previous FAQ thread. Keep in mind that these are opinions from some of our valued OP’s and you may agree or disagree with some of these. We just ask that everyone remains respectful when replying to this thread and we look forward to your contribution! NMSTG Mod Team

You can also drop a quick tip!

Tip #1: Always try to be doing multiple things. Pick up the portable refiner so you can refine something from your inventory while exploring and mining.

Tip #2: Avoid multiplayer until unlocking the anomaly, can be stranded if not.

Tip #3: Exotic worlds only have 1 fauna so it’s easy to scan all of them.

Tip #4: Need glyphs? All 16 are on one planet here

Q- “I was on the Anomaly and a bunch of expensive stuff showed up in my inventory. What do I do with it? A:” Congrats! Another player has bestowed you with a gift. Most likely it is an item to sell for some quick and easy cash. Usually the item description will tell you what it is used for.

Q: “Help, I claimed a broken ship and now I can’t find my starter ship! Is it gone forever?” A:” If you merely selected to “claim” the broken ship and not “swap” it, then your old ship is still around. If you left it with launch fuel in the tank, you can summon it with the quick-menu. If it does not have fuel, it can be summoned on the Anomaly (once you unlock it), your freighter (once you acquire one).

Q- “Are crashed ships worth repairing?” A-” Unless it is an exotic, no. Scrap the ship at the space station, sell the items it gives you, and use those units to buy a better, working version of a ship in that system.

Q- “Any advice for new players?” A-“For new players, make sure you read the guide in-game. It’s an excellent beginner’s guide for traveling, learning about the alien races, building, and etc. Take a look over the catalogue of items too. Also, I’d strongly suggest mining a massive amount of carbon, oxygen, and sodium. These three items will be some of your most used and critical items in the game

I'm Playing "Scavenger Mode" in Permadeath - No Money-Making or Spending Allowed.

After hundreds of hours in Normal and Survival modes doing the usual money-making and base-building, I decided to try playing the game a different way, what I’m calling scavenger mode in my first Permadeath save.

The main idea is that I will not be doing anything to make money, I will not be buying any items through galactic trade terminals, and I will not be purchasing upgrades from vendors at space stations. I will acquire nearly everything in the wild: mainly by mining and finding things on planets. I can also acquire materials by robbing freighters and sentinel depots, or fighting sentinels or pirates. New ships cannot be bought. They must be obtained by finding crashed or sunken starships and either fixing them up or scrapping them for their upgrades. New multi-tools also cannot be bought. They must be found in the wild, such as in crashed ships or given to me by NPCs.

I have allowed myself to use nanites to buy blueprints at the Anomaly because some of the really useful blueprints are nearly impossible to find in the wild or through the storyline. The only thing I’ve spent units on is exosuit storage slots, although I’ve also acquired many of my slots by finding and fixing drop pods. Essential items such as life support gel and ion batteries must be crafted. I may allow myself to do occasional Nexus missions for difficult to find and uncraftable items like wiring looms.

So far, I’ve been doing pretty well for myself. I have:

  1. A nice B-class hopper explorer that I found and fixed up, along with another B-class explorer and hauler that I may fix up as well.

  2. After many hours of getting by with my starter multi-tool, an NPC inside a building gave me a new B-class pistol with 21 slots. It was heavily damaged of course, but I’ve been able to fix every damaged piece except for two now.

  3. I finally was gifted a decent freighter after a pirate battle: B-class with 30 slots. Just what I needed after struggling to manage materials in my limited exosuit and ship storage.

  4. Mostly, I’ve maintained a savings of less than 1 million units. I’m now up to 5 million but only because I scrapped some found ships for their upgrades.

I’ve been spending most of my time on hot planets because I found an S-class heat protection in some damaged machinery. I’m letting the things that I find dictate to some extent the paths that I take in the game.

I have found a good boy?

I have found a good boy?

Probably the weakest sentinel ship I found yet. At 99 he’s has little to no damage output. My first sentinel ship had 254 as it’s damage output. He looks like a cross between a Manta Ray and Spider and sometimes he looks like he’s conflicted with thought.

But really? How could I put the cutest little frustrated ship into a battle?
