Base teleporters dropping me through the floor when I teleport in since Omega

As long as I've been playing the game, surprise behaviour when teleporting into a base was an occasional issue. Sometimes I'd find myself thrown sideways out of the base, sometimes (if the teleport device was at least one level above ground) depositing me at ground level (or out in the water for underwater). Since the Omega update, the latter behaviour is now happening 99% of the time in all such bases.

Anybody else seeing this behaviour? I long ago started building my bases to compensate (side doors in the foundations and so on), but it's annoying to have this happen so often, and particularly annoying in Permadeath (where I now spend most of my time).

First Freighter. I'll Take It!!!

First Freighter. I'll Take It!!!

Wasn’t expecting a freighter as I was cruising around looking for a home system to start building a base in when this guy popped up. Wasn’t too fussed about it being an S class, all the freighter stuff is new to me anyway! Stopped playing just after they introduced them so didn’t matter about it being the best because I don’t even know what I can do with it!

What's something you wish you knew when you started?

I’ve been playing for about a week. I played a lot when NMS first came out, and a bit after, but there’s sooooooo much new stuff now.

I see lots of people talking about discoveries, building, ships, etc after they’ve logged hundreds of hours.

So now that you’re hundreds of hours into the game, what is something you wish you had known, or done, when you first started?

Perma-death players -- What is the appeal of this game mode?

This is an earnest question, not a jab. I’m genuinely curious to hear from perma-death players.

I’m a veteran player with 566 hours on record (currently playing on Survival mode), and to me at least, perma-death doesn’t sound like the kind of added challenge that enhances the player experience in any meaningful way. All it does is massively raise the stakes of failure, like performing skateboard stunts without protective gear. (Except that the bad outcome in this case is just extreme frustration rather than brain damage.)

Is it a completionist thing? I can sort of understand that: I’m at 25/27 Steam achievements myself, and getting to the center of the galaxy on perma-death mode is one of my two missing achievements. Only 0.7% of NMS players have done it, so if you have, I guess congratulations are in order.
