NMS HOT POST 2024/03/22

I just love this game

I'm at work so no screenshots rn, but: I'm working on a build on a planet with very gentle triceratops as the main fauna. Like these guys are so chill that if you accidentally clip them while mining they don't run or get angry, they just calmly mosey away.

Yesterday, though, I set down a floor tile too close to a group of their babies. The adults ALL went into predator mode and I had to run for my life. Tossing creature pellets only worked for a few seconds. They stayed mad for a good ten minutes; I finally had to save and reboot so I could get back to the build.

12/10, would not approach the babies again but I LOVE IT

Printing infinite Nanites with Runaway Mold

Printing infinite Nanites with Runaway Mold

I just recently learned this after 110 hours and I wanted to share it with the people who struggle with scraping up Nanites. In no time, you can produce as many Nanites as you can process. – find yourself a nice world, mild weather, friendly creatures, passive sentinels. I found a very nice paradise planet in Eissentam. – land and start walking in one direction. Keep checking your surroundings with your scanner. At some point you will find your first curious deposit (Runaway Mold). Jackpot. Set up a base. – secure the deposit: usually they grow on hillsides so you want to use some wood prefabs to build a funnel for easier harvesting. Find maybe one more deposit and repeat, you don’t need more.

The best part is: the Runaway Mold respawns IMMEDIATELY after you left the immediate area. That means you can travel back and forth between two deposits and keep harvesting continuously. Set up as many medium refiners as you can (medium refiners are perfect since they don’t need power/fuel) and start printing Nanites! Enjoy!

Finally

I bought NMS on PS4, pre-ordered actually. I was playing it the moment the game became available and I loved it. I unfortunately ran out of things to do completed whatever you consider the main quest of the game at the time. I put it down promising to go back to it when it got better.

I believe I returned to the game around a year or so later. They had just implemented the ability to buy freighters and had the base building implemented. I ended up becoming a father shortly after and didn’t have much time for the game unfortunately.

Jump a little over 2 years in time and I decided now that I have a Series X that I would get back into the game. Boy was I excited to see all the new features and the beautiful updates. After exploring the first 4 out of 5 planets in my starting System, they were all quite hazardous in one way or another with basic flora and fauna of little interest. So I proceed to shoot over to the 5th and last planet in the system. I land and find that the planet has no real environmental hazards. I start to do a little exploring and scanning the various fauna on the planet. Out of nowhere the ground begins to shake violently and a snake the size of a skyscraper comes bursting out of the ground right in front of me. Now keep in mind that I was excited for this game before it’s actual release. That trailer they showed off before the game released, the one with the giant snake like creature, had me so excited to play the game and see such sights. I was very disappointed to find out that they did not exist in the game at the time. so seeing this massive creature leaping out of the ground in front of me had me literally screaming in excitement like a child.

Thank you Hello Games for sticking with your game and keeping the promises. That moment made my excitement for the game originally feel finally completely justified.

I apologize if my flair choice isn’t appropriate. I wasn’t sure which this really fell under.

Building items....

So I know there is the base building items you obtain in the anomaly and the ones through the quicksilver shop but I just found out about the items in pirate stations you can buy for tainted metal..i knew there were items to buy but not base building items… my question is.. are there any off the beaten path vendors or stations or trade terminals that have rare base parts? I’d like to collect everything I can for my building 👷‍♂️. Thanks traveler’s!

What types of missions would give me a Doctor Who roleplay feel?

I’m still pretty new to the game, just got my first freighter and settlement. I love exploring.

But the specific roleplay experience I’m looking for is to: Go somewhere, maybe random
Land my ship on a planet and generally not rely on it for inner atmosphere travel or saving my ass
Find someone who needs help or that something needs to be improved, which I’d be able to do without leaving the planet and not just pulling the fix from my inventory
Then I make my way back to my ship having “saved the day” and off to find someone else in need

Are there missions which fit this experience, either that the mission sends me there or that it’s something to do when I find a settlement which I’m not the leader of? If there’s these types of on-planet missions settlements give, I could warp into a system, search the closest settlement, land there, and do whatever local dangerous things they need.
