A PSA for anyone who has heard about the money glitch. Don't use it.

As a Day 1 player, this is mostly for the newer players. Yes, you can use a glitch to give infinite money/nanites. But please don’t. It will ruin the experience for you. NMS is about exploring the galaxy, and building from the ground up. Quite literally in some players cases.

Having instant access to everything defeats the purpose of playing it, as there’s suddenly nothing left to strive for. I’ve seen a few friends take this route, and the game got old for them real fast. A few started new games and are still here thankfully, but the rest just simply got bored.

This isn’t a post telling you how to play the game. It’s just an old Traveller sharing his opinion. Take it as you will, fellow Travellers, and I’ll see you in the stars.

Edit: It appears this has now been patched.

CALLING ALL BUILDERS! (Community Project)

CALLING ALL BUILDERS! (Community Project)

Hello all!

I found a paradise planet in Euclid that I thought might make a neat project to create a centralized resource system of standard materials for new and old players.

Main planet with two resource-based camps at the moment: Paraffinium Plaza and Warehouse – Help yourself!

I named the system “You are here” as a tongue-in-cheek reference for those maps you’d see in old shopping malls and had a bit of fun renaming some of the planets in the system. You’ll have to drop by to see 🙂

I had also discovered that placing those green crates within a camp could be lootable, and that led me to want to create a system that was dedicated to providing free resources for anyone just starting out or for those who were short and needed a quick resupply. So I have two main bases on the Supply Central planet (Paraffinium Plaza and Warehouse – please help yourself!) that are stocked with these green crates, food and mining resources, and ready for anyone to come grab!

NOTE: There’s a ton of pieces in the two main camps, so count to 10 Mississippi before you exit your ship after you land to avoid any lag/falling through the earth type glitch.

Every green box is lootable!

I also scanned and built auto mines for cobalt, pyrite, uranium, ammonia, dioxite, paraffinium, magentized ferrite, copper, sodium and salt on the different planets in the system. They’re all there so help yourself! 🙂 Here are the glyphs:

Here are the glyphs for the system!

HOW TO GET THERE: If you are new to NMS and don’t have a portal to enter the above-glyphs, find a monument within the Euclid galaxy and answer the riddle. If you guess correctly, it will let you click it again (and ask for the appropriate race resource — ie. Korvax convergence cube if you’re currently in a Korvax system), and it will give you directions to a portal ley line. Once at the new portal ley line, add the requested resources to the wheel to activate it and then enter the above glyphs to get to the system.

The main planet (Supply Central) is without any nature events, have never had a storm or any other life-threatening events in the 8-plus hours a day I’ve been on Supply Central building, and have yet to see a sentinel on this planet or any of the other planets within this system.

Yeah the water’s not pretty, but the rest of the planet is! All of the carbon plants and minerals have high yields.

These dinos are adorable, they even like frolicking in the water.

The fauna are adorable, and non-aggressive, except for the fish in the water who occasionally will charge you and die giving you meat but no real damage. In my journeys on all the planets in this system, none have had aggro fauna.

Fish literally jump into your boat and give you meat!

Even the visiting neighbours drive cool cars! (For those who want to park and look for this ship, I set up camps at two Trading Posts within the system too).

Fancy neighbours with sparkly ships.

GOALS OF THE PROJECT

There are soooo many talented folks who play NMS who build amazing structures. I was hoping to make a centralized system where people could pop in and grab resources and tour some of these amazing structures.

So I’m inviting you to visit the system and put down some roots, building your own resource depot to help others and show off some of your skills! 🙂

If you decide to build, please offer at least one resource at your camp and when you name the camp indicate what folks will find there as part of the name.

Would love to see what you create and help benefit our community at the same time!

Big thank you to Angry Monkey who helped tour and ensure that all resources worked as intended and for offering some of his own amazing building tips!

To the new players of this game. You are a human being.

You are not a human doing. There are quests, activities, bases to build, travellers to find, units to make, ships to upgrade. But the true beauty if this game is in simply being.

You are the first person ever to land on an undiscovered planet in a universe which is so vast, if every human being on earth played simultaneously, there would still be over two billion planets just for you. Take a few minutes to appreciate its beauty.

There is minimaxing to be done, base parts to be ground, freighters to be designed, but take a moment to stand on one of your frigates’ landing pads and marvel at what Sean hath wrought.

The true value of this game to humanity is its ability to rekindle the sense of wonder at the vastness of nature. Bring this sense of wonder back to the real world.

Safe travels, Interloper.

What's better than a Paradise Planet? An Earthlike Bountiful Planet with gravity storms, that's what.

I have discerned what I think is a sort of unwritten two-week rule in the NMS community. You get to sit on discoveries and play with them for two weeks, but after the honeymoon the brotastic nature of the NMS community requires that one bequeath one’s discoveries for all grah brahs to enjoy.

Guys, gals & nonbinary pals, I hereby introduce all y’all to what I think is my most significant NMS discovery, the planet Ebradin (even its original name is pretty sweet):

https://preview.redd.it/i8hqefj9nz0d1.png?width=3840&format=png&auto=webp&s=129f8ddb727bb77f8084c2dabe4835b876ad0440

It’s just gorgeous. I’ve never seen dissonance blend so well into what would otherwise be an Earth-type paradise planet. The sky and water can get reddish, but otherwise the whole landscape is exactly what everyone is looking for. The lifeforms aren’t just abundant — every single one has character.

There’s the adorable hopping shroom cluster.

https://preview.redd.it/r669cp4ynz0d1.png?width=3840&format=png&auto=webp&s=2ca1b9839467109f3becaa38d46f5ae7db173870

Maybe you’ve seen those before. But I’d never seen glowing fish that just fly around before Ebradin.

The landscape at night is stunningly beautiful. It’s like this everywhere.

https://preview.redd.it/4pi9hmlvoz0d1.png?width=3840&format=png&auto=webp&s=ad7393541ac89adc1837be4264628643ab8e9eb5

“But oh no, storms!” you might say. Chill, anomalbroski. Ebradin would never harsh your NipNip buzz with dangerous storms. The storms on Ebradin are rather totally awesome.

Gravity storms! In exchange for a minor drag on your life support, you can jetpack hundreds (maybe thousands?) of units in the air with just a basic rig. Gravity storms mean you shoot into the air with minimal jetpacking, and on top of that you get a massive jetpack tank boost in a gravity storm, because of course you do.

Finally, the gravity storms make the planet insanely buggy. Portions of landscapes will lift off the ground and twist into themselves like a deranged MC Escher print. They will melt your brain and crash your PS5. Enjoy!

Ebradin is located in Euclid, so even novice travellerinos can hang ten on these gravity waves.

Thank you NMS community. Don’t say I never did anything nice for you.
