I have two best friends who stopped playing NMS for a really long time because of their job (I have a job too). I felt a little bit sad that time. After several days, I found out about the squadron feature. I'm like, okay, this is cool. I have starships to fight with me when doing pirate missions. Hours later, I thought maybe I could recruit a pilot who has the same ship as my bois. It's so awesome when there's a freighter battle or conflict; they will warp in then engage, I really feel like I'm fighting with them. Every so often, I even let them have the last hit. Sometimes when roaming in space, I'll call my squadron to feel like I'm playing with them. We're still active in chats though, and that's why I'm not that sad.
