NMS HOT POST 2021/07/1

This game has a great community – thank you

Hello everyone,
Steam has the game on sale and so I´ve decided to give it a try.
I had many great hours since then by trying out various things.

But when I went to the anomalie first I got a pleasant suprise:
While checking the various NPC someone send me materials for around 8 million units.
Wow, that´s much for a newbie who just made it to the anomalie.
Thank you very much.
Too bad I don´t know how to tell him/ her that by myself because I´ve "missed" the transaction.

But that wasn´t the only case.
A few days later I was 2-3 minutes afk while on the anomalie.
When I came back I got materials for around 600 million units.
Woa
That´s awesome.

More than enough to get a nice ship (after finishing the storyline).
Again: Thank you very much. And sorry that I wasn´t able to thank you ingame. I hope you´re reading this.

I promise I´ll help newbies like me the same way, when I´m more experienced with this game.

my favorite moment in gaming.

During the covid lockdown I’d play a ton of NMS with my father. Living overseas it was a great way to connect. We built these crazy settlements and massive towers. I had about 150 hours in the game. He had well over 3000 hours, was a billionaire infinite times over, every ship, carriers with farms of every crop in the game as far as the eye could see. He had about 400 bases, all decked out in the pimpest shit in the game, and probably the biggest water base I’ve ever seen in NMS as well. Guy was 78 and gamed hard.

He passed away few months ago and it hit me pretty hard. I completely forgot about NMS as we hadn’t played for a while together. He told me in a casual conversation previously that he had deleted his NMS account completely becasue he wanted a new challenge. I was a little disappointed he had done it because it meant the bases we built together would suddenly be half built, but I understood.

A week ago I logged in just to check if it was all gone and it was. Just open fields and trees. Still looked beautiful so I accepted it.

Off the cuff I decided to look at the first base I had built. My dad had also built a base nearby but I had forgotten about it.

I landed in an acid storm. I had forgotten the buttons and my suit wasn’t ready for it and was dieing quick. Just as I was about to die I spotted a hologram of a buggy. But I didnt own a buggy at this base.

I turned the corner and there was his first base. I ran inside just before I died. For whatever reason his first base was still there and it saved my ass just in time. Still full of all his statues and gardens and exotic ships.

I sat on the couch upstairs. As I stared out the window, the acid rain stopped and the sun came out.

Definitely one of my favorite moments in gaming.

Please explain Voltaic Staff Spawning in 2024.

I’ve been researching staff colors and classes, but it seems a lot of the information I’m finding may be outdated, or I’m just not understanding it correctly. I’ve read that the staff head determines the build, but if I mark a staff terminal for future use, IE. I want to come back when I free up inventory space, I can’t seem to build the same staff again.

Here’s my scenario. I was exploring autophage camps, and found a particular staff color combo I liked. I dropped a save beacon, jumped up to the Anomaly to disassemble an A class MT I wanted to break down rather than exchange away. I then returned to the camp to claim my shiny new staff, but I can’t recreate the build!

In actual fact, this camp had two staff builds I wanted. One was color specific, and the other had a supercharged slot layout I wanted. I cannot recreate either.

For the record, I play on GOG. Do the staff builds vary from planet to planet like regular multi tool cabinets do?
