Total noob enthusiasm post!

My husband and son got me the game for Christmas and I had a couple days off from my new job – oh wow!

I’m just trying to organically explore and slowly learn my way around… everything. My initial spawn planet killed me in the first minute or so, LOL. I’m like “How do the controls work?” And then I froze to death. It got better.

I found a crashed ship fairly early, figured out how to claim it, and have been (stupidly?) trying to mine and gather enough jawn to fix it. But at least I figured out how to rename it.

The Gek on the one space station I got to seem to like me. I’ve learned a few of their words and found them a bunch of buried idols. Do they really talk in … farts?

And I got an animal. I admit, having a giant purple butterfly as a buddy is a little weird, but he gave me an egg today – so that’s cool?

Overwhelming steep learning curve for new players

Another Starfield refugee here finally taking the plunge into No Man’s Sky.

I made it to the first space station. I’m loving the exploration and customized difficulty settings but I’m feeling overwhelmed with all the tutorials, knowledge stones, ship fuel, outposts and resources.

What are the most useful materials I should buy?

What’s the deal with the Discoveries tab? It’s just uploading scans for Nanites?

Any advice on the best early game upgrades?

Flight controls feel pretty weird on Xbox controller. I felt like I was going to crash into the space station lol. Is there a sweet spot for sensitivity settings?

Any advice or new player tips is appreciated.

Ship stuck in tree....me stuck on ground. ...and now a can't call my ship.... ugh!

What are my options? My ship and I landed in one of those giant giant mushroom trees. I exited my ship and fell to the ground. …. now I can’t summon my ship to me. Ugh! I’m now marooned on one of the ugliest planets I have ever seen!

What are my options. I guess if I have enough resources I might be able to build a portal….I hope. 🙁

Building a city!!!

I decided to finally do it, I’m building a fully functional city! I plan on it having everything: • Apartments, Lofts, Townhomes, Condo • Bank • Business Centers • Traveling Trader Harbor • Entertainment Studio • Laboratory/Medical Center • Town Hall • Night Club • Tool, Ship and General Markets • Full city wide power grid • Agriculture • Parks After I’m done I’m planning on starting a discord server for people to join and live, work, role play and more! So far I’m working on building the 8 story tall Condo skeleton with a sample unit (unfurnished) for now.

Sit and wait......

You always see people sitting at the nexus and I’ve for years assumed they were people wanting things to upgrade and progress their characters.. I’m now finding out the best way to help them is become one of them from time to time. 🤣 🤣 🤣 (donations and egg sequencer drains your resources QUICK!)
