I wish I could say I’m a good builder, but the reality is that I have no talent whatsoever. Just trying my best. I watched tutorials online and I gathered the basics, but I have a few questions on the matter:
I know that manipulating the terrain by digging is counter-productive bc it grows back. Does this apply to the terrain flattener too? If so, what’s the point of having a tool so obviously designed to make flat space for your base?
Sometimes when I put down a prefab, it autonomously delete portions of terrain that would clip into it. In this case, does it grow back regardless?
What about natural resources (rocks and plants)? Do they grow back? I ask because every tutorial says if you want to build a base in a cave you better find a natural cave… But natural caves are filled with stalagmites and cave pumpkins. I don’t know if I can safely build over those.
Let’s say I want to connect two parts of my base, but in the middle there’s a mountain. I carve a large hole in the mountain and place a prefab corridor or passage tube to connect the two parts. After a while, the terrain I carved comes back. Does it clip inside the corridor I placed preventing me to traverse it or does it just “surround” my pieces leaving the space inside empty?
Last… Is there an effective way/trick to snap different base styles pieces together? I’m building with prefab and cubic rooms, but I can’t for the life of me make a pathway OUTSIDE to connect different buildings, bacause not a single floor present in the game snaps with the prefab (again, I’m talking about the exterior)
Thanks!

One thing I wish there was in the game was a console that you could build in your bases that would allow visitors to register that they visited the base and could leave a message. submitted by /u/LightningSmooth [link] [comments]

So I know there is the base building items you obtain in the anomaly and the ones through the quicksilver shop but I just found out about the items in pirate stations you can buy for tainted metal..i knew there were items to buy but not base building items… my question is.. are there any off the beaten path vendors or stations or trade terminals that have rare base parts? I’d like to collect everything I can for my building 👷♂️. Thanks traveler’s!

I’m still pretty new to the game, just got my first freighter and settlement. I love exploring.
But the specific roleplay experience I’m looking for is to: Go somewhere, maybe random
Land my ship on a planet and generally not rely on it for inner atmosphere travel or saving my ass
Find someone who needs help or that something needs to be improved, which I’d be able to do without leaving the planet and not just pulling the fix from my inventory
Then I make my way back to my ship having “saved the day” and off to find someone else in need
Are there missions which fit this experience, either that the mission sends me there or that it’s something to do when I find a settlement which I’m not the leader of? If there’s these types of on-planet missions settlements give, I could warp into a system, search the closest settlement, land there, and do whatever local dangerous things they need.
