Fun with Friends and Sea Monsters. The fish is fixated on someone inside the ship.

So…I finally got the nudge I needed from one-too-many people saying “but the wall of text is just TL;DR!”
So…I made my first Tutorial video instead.
Including the original Wall-o’-Text for posterity.
Step 1: Get both the Economy & Conflict scanners from the Anomaly’s Ship-Tech vendor. You’ll need a Walker-Brain for the Conflict Scanner.
Step2: In GalaxyMap, sort by Conflict, and choose the red stars. THEN you’re looking for the stars with the pirate symbol (that’s the skull). Travel to that system. You’ll want a bunch of those systems (15-20).
Go to Pirate Systems.
Buy Banned Goods from the vendor on the far-left if you’re looking at it from the Teleporter (under the yellow junked ship).
Buy tech & weapons packages from same dealer (not the next dealer over that sells ‘em for nanites).
Go to a NON pirate system by cycling through one of your bases (you can’t go directly to a Non-Pirate space station from a Pirate system or vise/versa). Sell off the Banned Goods immediately, don’t just fly around with that stuff (a system Scan will get you popped & chased by sentinel ships).
Open all the tech & weapon packages. Sell those to one of the Tech Dealers across on the other platform for nanites.
Lather/rinse/repeat.
Hit a few Freighters IN THE PIRATE SYSTEMS ONLY for more banned goods to sell, to keep your $$$ headed north…so you can keep buying those tech packages. Don’t hit the free-floating Cargo Pods or you lose Standing with whatever Race is dominant in that system.
Develop a LIST of Pirate systems & hit them regularly, they’ll regenerate their inventory for you to buy again about every 30 minutes to an hour. I’ve got 20 in my list. It takes me 30-45 minutes to go through the whole list & nets me about 50k Nanites per rotation.
I keep track of which ones I’ve done by going through the whole list of pirate systems (while in pirate systems, ONLY Non-Pirate systems will say “unavailable” something to that effect), then cycling back to sell off.
That keeps them in order so I can go back for another run later.

Today, I was wrapping up an expedition and transitioning back to my main save when I encountered something quite funny during the tally of my achievements and the calculation of my earned currency. Here’s the thing: while waiting for the completion of the fifth stage of the expedition, I engaged in piracy, looting a significant number of Gek ships. My relationship with the Geks plummeted to around -500. When it came to calculating achievements, there was a section for relations with alien races, and in this section, my currency earnings took a massive hit due to my poor relations. It turned out that I had earned a total of -1 unit of currency.
I was a bit disheartened and surprised to find that accumulating bad reputation is penalized by the game. However, when I transitioned back to my main save, a surprise awaited me – since I had earned -1 unit, it seems there was an overflow in the game’s unsigned int variable, and I ended up with 4,294,967,295 units in my main save. It was a hilariously unexpected turn of events.

I can’t for the life of me light up this base I’ve been working on. Do I just need to lock in and add a bunch more lights or am I missing somthing? submitted by /u/Jellyflopter |

Long ago, NMS only allowed players to own a single ship, making it a major decision on which ship type a traveler should go after. However, realizing this felt clunky, updates have been made over the years, ship slots increased, new tech modules, and new features added. This was a great call, but it did leave one mark: the distinctions between each ship didn’t matter anymore; Haulers don’t even have the benefit of additional cargo space, since all S-class ships can have the same total number of slots.
I was talking ship perks with someone, and it got me thinking that perhaps it would make sense to introduce new strengths to less used ship types. As I was mulling it over, I realized that some of these changes would have to be pretty potent to stand up to current-day standards — poor Shuttles, their only real signature is that their takeoff price is reduced, made obsolete by the auto-recharge modules. So I decided to spitball a few ideas trying to stay true to the ship’s purpose while taking 2024 NMS in mind, and see if the following suggestions are strong enough to make you think “oh yeah, I’d definitely want to own a [ship type].”
Shuttles:
Haulers:
Living:
Explorer:
Let me know if these are along the right lines, and whether you’d fly one of these if they had these perks.

El title.
Why bother to name stuff if you’re the only one who can ever see the name? Is there a way to let others see the name?

While I struggle with anxiety so it is difficult for me to egg myself into the multiplayer scene in the game, I just have to applaud ALL of you guys. This is the most non-toxic gaming community I think I’ve ever seen and I have been a gamer for a goood…

I re-boarded my freighter after a lengthy reconnaissance mission and wanted to send my frigates out.
So, I visit The Navigator, and he gives me the list of expeditions (not Expeditions) and it’s all low star trips, three 2** and two 1*.
Would love to see more 3‘s, as well as any 4* and 5*****, which I’ve never seen. What’s up with that?
That’s all.
Gray, over and out.
