The base building glitches in this game are legitimately starting to make me mad.

Stuff constantly disappearing. When I move something in a room, the entire room itself is deleted leaving all my objects floating in the air, leaving me to find more materials to rebuild the room everytime I want to move a god damn plant to a different location.

My door to my landing pad just decided to vanish. Then my landing pad vanished, leaving my ship floating in the air.

I’m so tired of losing stuff I spent time and materials creating. Its making me want to either just stop playing or ignore the base building entirely because I feel like I’m wasting my time. Why build something if its just gonna vanish 5 minutes after?

Are there any planet types/areas you avoid?

I avoid planets that have large bodies of water because of lassophobia. The last thing I want is to accidentally crash my ship in the middle of the sea.

I also try to avoid planets with those giant worms. I have come across them in 4 different star systems now.

I avoid crashes freighters because I’m scared there might be something there to attack me.

I avoid the bases that are infected with eggs too.

All of these give me anxiety to I avoid these bits in the game.

Apart from the top 2, what am I missing out from not doing the others?

Also is there anything you avoid?

NMS Q&A thread! Ask questions, provide answers or just submit a tip. We hope this helps our valu...

This post will be refreshed every few days. The old post are still available for answering questions in those post.

Below are a few popular questions that we’ve received from our past FAQ thread. As always we ask that everyone be respectful and we welcome everyone’s contribution so have fun!

Q- I’m keen to start a new passive money making pursuit. What are some good ideas or guides post-Waypoint?

A#1-Gold farm, then take that stack and sell it at a terminal (not traders) in systems that sell gold. Sell all your gold to the terminal and crash the economy. Then buy it all back at 80% off discount. You just got free money and keep all the gold. All this takes is an initial investment on a gold farm, then you carry all that gold with you and just sell/buy back when you get to another system that sells gold. With 50 stacks in my ship’s cargo hold, I can make somewhere around 150 million units in each system I do this in.

A#2-Start a Farm, Fusion Igniters or Statis Devices Farm which will increase your profits to 100- 200 mil fairly quickly and you can even send out multiple freighter missions which will help you get aronium, magno-gold, Enriched carbon and more which will increase the profits even more.

A#3-Quickest way I’ve found to make a TON of units: Harvesting Storm Crystals. Find a VERY hot planet that has frequent fire storms. DURING STORMS ONLY – you can see the bright white light from Storm Crystals if you fly around low enough. Fly to them, land, quickly harvest them, get back in your ship and fly to the next before you burn up.

Q-How do I get the Advanced Mining Laser? I don’t have the option to craft one, and the multi-tool upgrade vendor at the space station doesn’t have the blueprint for sale.

A-In order to get it, you have to look for the blueprints in crashed ships or abandoned facilities. You get it from the main story (awakenings) or you can buy it on the anomaly.

Q-What do I actually do in the game? I finished the tutorial, is there anything else beside gathering stuff, building a base and repeat?

A#1-It’s really whatever you want, there’s a base story, (assuming you haven’t completed it already), follow the quest log and you’ll figure it out, but things You’d want to do for end game? You can collect multiple multitools, ships, built a fleet for your freighter, etc.

Q-Is there a planet that is populated by many players, and they built their base close to each others like a city?

A- Yeah its the Galactic Hub Project, Its a place where many people have bases and each day the numbers grow. Please help yourself. There are many factions in NMS that do this, even NMS Pirates Hub.

Q-I’m still pretty early into the game, just making my way to the center of the galaxy, what should I be spending my credits on?

A-Go hang around a outlaw/pirate trading post. Cheapest S-class start at around 8-8.5 million without a trade-in. I recommend Vikeen pirate, as then you have two good and 1 remote chances at high-maneuverability S-class: fighter, solar, exotic.

Atlas Path disappointment

From the official information for the Omega update:

The classic Atlas Path mission has been given a new breath of life, culminating in a final, consequential, choice. Witness the Atlas in all its grandeur, and decide whether to embrace the path it offers – or deny it. Either path will permanently impact your relationship with the Atlas.

But it turns out the “consequential choice” is the same one we already had, to birth a new star or not. The only difference is, from the same information page:

Players who decline the Atlas at the end of the Atlas Path are now awarded their own counterpart title and technology to those awarded for accepting its request.

Yay! A different title and technology. How that impacts your relationship with the Atlas, I have no clue. It’s not like I have any ongoing relationship with the Atlas, after having completed both the Artemis and Atlas paths.

The conclusion to the Atlas Path has been visually enhanced and reworked, to create a more spectacular finale.

I didn’t notice anything at all spectacular. There are some small differences, but nothing remarkable.

Choosing to birth a star or not marks the end of the path, now. The whole “go through a black hole to make the Atlas path go away” thing has been removed, which means that the Atlas path’s annoying habit of popping back up again until you go through another black hole has been fixed.

Well, not exactly fixed, but replaced by a new permanent mission in which you can present wonders to the Atlas:

Players who have completed the Atlas Path now have access to a repeating mission with which they can earn nanites and additional words in the Atlas language.

Those additional Atlas words aren’t worth anything if you’ve already completed the Artemis path. It used to be that you could review the log of the Atlas path, and the translated words of the Atlas would be filled in as you learned them. Learn the whole language, and you could understand everything that the Atlas had been telling you. Well, all except one word. The log of the Atlas path has been removed, so you can no longer review it.
