I Want Weapons in My Settlement!

Everyone who owns a settlement knows, that it is sometimes attacked by the sentinels or pirates. So why don't we have some buildable turrets fending off drones and flaks fending off pirates?

Or even bolder, some long range weapon that hit ANYWHERE in the system. Imagine you are fighting with sentinel dreadnaught, a full salvo of missles are launched from the settlement silo to help.

How do you think?

Are you new player looking for some tips to get you started? Are you a veteran player with some advi...

Here’s some of the FAQ suggestions we received in our previous FAQ thread. Keep in mind that these are opinions from some of our valued OP’s and you may agree or disagree with some of these. We just ask that everyone remains respectful when replying to this thread and we look forward to your contribution! NMSTG Mod Team

You can also drop a quick tip!

Tip #1: Always try to be doing multiple things. Pick up the portable refiner so you can refine something from your inventory while exploring and mining.

Tip #2: Avoid multiplayer until unlocking the anomaly, can be stranded if not.

Tip #3: Exotic worlds only have 1 fauna so it’s easy to scan all of them.

Tip #4: Need glyphs? All 16 are on one planet here

Q- “I was on the Anomaly and a bunch of expensive stuff showed up in my inventory. What do I do with it? A:” Congrats! Another player has bestowed you with a gift. Most likely it is an item to sell for some quick and easy cash. Usually the item description will tell you what it is used for.

Q: “Help, I claimed a broken ship and now I can’t find my starter ship! Is it gone forever?” A:” If you merely selected to “claim” the broken ship and not “swap” it, then your old ship is still around. If you left it with launch fuel in the tank, you can summon it with the quick-menu. If it does not have fuel, it can be summoned on the Anomaly (once you unlock it), your freighter (once you acquire one).

Q- “Are crashed ships worth repairing?” A-” Unless it is an exotic, no. Scrap the ship at the space station, sell the items it gives you, and use those units to buy a better, working version of a ship in that system.

Q- “Any advice for new players?” A-“For new players, make sure you read the guide in-game. It’s an excellent beginner’s guide for traveling, learning about the alien races, building, and etc. Take a look over the catalogue of items too. Also, I’d strongly suggest mining a massive amount of carbon, oxygen, and sodium. These three items will be some of your most used and critical items in the game

Found an absolutely stunning planet. Will be my first "home planet" to build my first legit base on.

It couldn’t be more perfect. It’s in a wealthy system. Peaceful conflict level. It’s a dissonant planet with rings. Sentinels are few and far between. Has lush green grass that is luminescent, as well as the flora. Crap tons of awesome fauna with cool colors, giant flying worms. It has the always fun and entertaining gravity storms with the cool pink bubbles. A bunch of huge underground cavernous lakes. Has an S Class Sentinel ship. Only wish I had been the one to discover it. But it was found about a week ago by someone named “DiePieDie”. So thank you whoever you are.

Does anyone else get obsessed over the electrical design of their bases?

I’ve been making my floating island base bigger and better before I move on with the storyline, and the thing that absolutely tickles me the most is fiddling with the electrical systems.

The core of the base is a 4-story tower made of round Deepwater modules with lots of branching arms connecting other rooms in a series of stacked figure-eights. Top floor is my office, big teleport portal, and save point. Bottom is entrances and a short teleport to the top. Middle floors have staircase access from the outside and one is the “power room” with 8 batteries. Those batteries are charges by a collection of 11 solar panels mounted on the roofs of 3 of the outlying modules. But you see, that’s only the backups. A measely 275kp!

No, waaaay down below my floating island, and on the shore of the lake beneath it, there was a power hotspot just barely inside the base range. That’s where I built the “power plant.” A gorgeous wooden building with sail roofs that houses nine Electromagnetic Generators pumping out a combined 1300kp. This feeds into a distribution panel with control lights that lets me switch the main power off and on at will. And then this runs through a single battery acting as a test rectifier, and then flows down a cable on the lakebed until it runs right under the edge of the floating island, where I built an underwater “power sub-station” in a natural crevice at the bottom of the lake. This facility is a single deepwater chamber holding six batteries and a short range teleporter that connects to the power plant for maintenance. A small, T-shaped tower projects just above the water’s surface with ladders and an access hatch from the lake itself. And in the upper section is a set of 8 Biofuel Reactors that can supply emergency power.

And then I ran miles of wires and complicated circuits that let me control all of this energy flow from my desk at the top of the base tower. Switching from main, to auxiliary, to backup, or even putting the whole base on lockdown. There’s even a booby trap for prisoners. It’s a short range teleporter that looks important but only turns on if the base is in lockdown mode, and if anyone steps into it they get teleported into a single glass cuboid on the bottom of the lake, where a proximity switch circuit sees them and shuts off the teleporter inside so they can’t get back out.

Possible bug, may need some help (spoiler warning)

So just did my first reset ( well first for some time, last played YEARS ago) anyways, i rest and was given a new starter ship instead of the one I had, ( its repair requires for key functions components that I dont have access to at all as they are only on corrupted worlds) So I cant take off. Figured, I’d just swap it out at my freighter, build a base teleport up, and none of my ships are available.
