I’m new to the game after being away for a long time. I’m really enjoying myself and taking it slow to really understand game mechanics and enjoy the journey. When shooting meteors in space for tritium, gold, etc. I keep accidentally shooting other ships passing by. This creates an “act of piracy” which lowers my standing (not sure what the implications of this are) and then calls sentinel ships in that shoot at me. Is there a way to avoid this or let the ship know I shot them by accident? It’s obnoxious and screwing with my chill exploration vibe.

Made myself a nice base by the sea on a paradise planet. The sound of the surf and the birds. Relaxing…

The engine on my starship never turns off. The engine on my Roamer never turns off. There’s a constant stream of traffic overhead. It’s like they put in a Hyperspace Bypass! Actually it’s like they put in six. The ships come from all directions but their flightpaths just happen to coincidentally cross right over my base. Now I’ve got that modded Sentinel hanging around noising the place up!

And don’t even get me started on the 3 fleets of freighters and frigates that boom in every time I leave a station or planetside…

Don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying the game and it’s great that there is noticeably other entities in the universe doing their own thing but jeezlooeez…

Do I have to go play E:D just for some peace and quiet?

Five years ago I wrote this:

“I cannot wait to boot up the game and just walk in any direction, exploring. To see what’s behind that cliff, or what’s inside that deep mysterious cave. Imagine climbing a mountain during sunset and just take a break up there. Hearing the wind and see how day slowly turns into night. Seeing blinking stars appear in the nightsky. Knowing that if you want to, you can get your own spaceship and visit those stars. I’m definitely ready to lose myself in this game. Experience the feeling of being completely lost somewhere and not knowing what to come next”.

This dilemma still holds up to this day.

It’s one of those games you can play however you want. As an adult with a full-time job and family, I value the chill exploration. No need to “keep up” with anything.
