IMO, the perfect ship for the story.

My current way to earn units is scrapping crashed ships. (Hint: Gek pirate systems with water) I usually just ignore crappy ships (value less than 10MM with scanner), but occasionally for one reason or another, I end up flying one back to the space station. So I was interested: is it worth it to repair cargo slots before scrapping? I ran the numbers. Summary: Scrap value before cargo slot repair: 1.305MM After repair: 4.9MM Increase of: 3.595MM Space station cost of all repair components: 1,209,355 units (not including things I cannot buy, i.e. activated copper, oxygen, condensed carbon to make antimatter) The numbers look much better if you have farms for the annoying to buy or expensive things. I have an activated indium farm for the sole purpose of getting chromatic metal, for instance. So technically, it’s probably worth it to fix even the crappiest of ships before scrapping, assuming you have easy access to the parts you need. IMO, not worth the time if you can move on to something that has a larger return on your investment of time. Assuming it formats reasonably, here’s a table of everything I bought and a typical space station price (for me, yours may vary depending on difficulty settings) submitted by /u/harmothoe_ |

Yes everyone’s posting a million sentinel ships rn. But I’ve not seen many that transform. I found it on an interesting little planet. Dinos, gravitino balls and ossified stars dotted about. Can get abit frosty at times. submitted by /u/bikerspotofgold |

I’ve been playing for a few hundred hours now and can actually claim to have a solid grip on most of the game. I was selling off activated indium from the farm I’ve set up (about 12m units worth/day which I think is pretty respectable) when I saw a trade item I didn’t recognize in my exosuit inventory. I had a full stack, 50/50. Something called Starship AI Valves. I look at the value for the sale. That moment was one of those moments where you wonder for a split second whether the problem is your eyes or reality itself. 650 million units. So I look them up and see they are the most valuable item in the game, only obtained from scrapping a ship worth more than 50 million. There’s a different thread where someone discovers one in their inventory and is informed that someone must have just given it to them in the Anomaly, and this must be their lucky day.
Here’s my question: did someone seriously just give me the product of fifty scrapped high value starships, completely out of the blue, just to be a nice person? Has anything of this magnitude happened to anyone else?

Landed on my freighter and saw my solar ship switch from yellow to black. This just looks like the color they should be. submitted by /u/Expert-Honest [link] [comments]

I have built some shacks here and there, but this is my first time really getting into the details. I wanted to get the feel of an old outpost turned storage yard. Found this planet while on the hunt for my first living ship and thought I’d settl…

It always bothered me somewhat that we have these plants we can cultivate for the purpose of building or crafting further items (or making loads of money on the market in the case of NipNip buds), but the plants you want to gather from for ingredients remain wild and untamed.
It’d be nice to be able to set up a farm base proper or have a microfarm on a freighter for your heptaloid wheats or impulse beans…
