NMS HOT POST 2023/09/27

I kinda wish to see more nods to classic SciFi in the game. Especially artificial worlds and non humanoid sentient races.

If you look at the names of some characters in nms they are named after Greek & Roman gods/goddesses. Example:

Tethys: Tethys is the goddess of freshwater and nursing mothers. Also the name of a moon of Saturn.

Apollo: The god of archery, music and dance, truth and prophecy, healing and diseases, the sun and light, poetry, and more.

Mercury: the Roman god of commerce, often serving as a mediator between the gods and mortals.

Ares: The ancient Greek god of war or, more properly, the spirit of battle. He represented the distasteful aspects of brutal warfare and slaughter.

Ariadne: She was a Cretan princess and the daughter of King Minos of Crete.

Cronus: A Titan and the youngest son of Uranus (Heaven/Sky) and Gaia (Earth).

Eos: Represented as a young woman, usually winged, either walking fast with a youth in her arms or rising from the sea in a chariot drawn by winged horses, Eos has the power to bring the dawn or the morning sky to the ancient Greeks.

Gemini: According to one version of the myth, Castor and Pollux were made into the constellation Gemini by the god Zeus to honor the brothers’ love.

Helios: The sun god, sometimes called a Titan. Helios is often depicted in art with a radiant crown and driving a horse-drawn chariot through the sky. He was a guardian of oaths and also the god of sight.

Hesperus: The Evening Star, the planet Venus in the evening. A son of the dawn goddess Eos (Roman Aurora), he is the half-brother of her other son, Phosphorus (also called Eosphorus; the “Morning Star”).

Hyperion: The Titan god of watchfulness and heavenly light. He was the father of Eos (Dawn), Helios (Sun), and Selene (Moon), as well as the brother of Cronus, king of the Titans, and the husband of Theia, Titan goddess of the sky.

Perses: The Titan god of destruction. He was the father of Hekate, goddess of witchcraft, by the Titanis Asteria (“Starry One”).

Selene: In Greek and Roman religion, the personification of the moon as a goddess. She was worshipped at the new and full moons.

Artemis: The goddess of chastity, hunting, and the moon, often depicted with her trusty bow and arrow and a short tunic to aid in running through the woods. Her maidenly virtue—for she swore never to marry—was presented in counterpoint to the passionate and fiery Aphrodite.

Unpopular Opinion: The inventory was an absolute mess prior to 4.0 and I'm happy it's more streamlin...

Looking back, I couldn’t stand it. Always putting basic material like carbon into my “HIGH-CAPACITY INVENTORY” just to make room for other things. Mistakenly putting tritium into my ships cargo inventory because the Outlaws update made it to where your ships cargo option came before your exosuit cargo inventory.

Now, it’s as simple as putting it into your “STARSHIP, EXOCRAFT, FREIGHTER, EXOSUIT”

Thank you, HG

Cheers to Hello Games

I’ve been here for a while but it’s my first time making a post like this.

I know there are some bugs and some of you haven’t seen the new content yet but let me say this: the bugs are all minor and will be fixed soon, with the sheer amount of content that has been released a lot of things could go wrong but didnt’t and I’m honestly impressed with one of the biggest updates I’ve seen since Oranges.

They integrated the scanner mechanic from the past expedition very well and now harmonic camps have more backstory, purpose and life; we also finally have a good reason to harvest atlantideum and visit Korvax ruins.

I like the fact that there are more interactions both on planets (variety doesn’t need to come necessarly in the shape of terrain generation) and in space (pirates aren’t anymore a few rogue ships and feel like a real force in the galaxy).

The autophages have a lot of potential and a good backstory, if the story will go in the direction I think we’ll be able to see a lot of cool things.

The new aesthetics are great, I went full on with the ‘ancient wanderer’ theme and it looks gorgerous.

Y’all, I don’t know what to add, while many updates feel like updates, this one feels like an upgrade and I’m hyped for the incoming expedition.

Have fun travelers!

Community

Just a Quick Appreciation

While I struggle with anxiety so it is difficult for me to egg myself into the multiplayer scene in the game, I just have to applaud ALL of you guys. This is the most non-toxic gaming community I think I’ve ever seen and I have been a gamer for a goood…

Too Many Low Difficulty Frigate Expeditions

I re-boarded my freighter after a lengthy reconnaissance mission and wanted to send my frigates out.

So, I visit The Navigator, and he gives me the list of expeditions (not Expeditions) and it’s all low star trips, three 2** and two 1*.

Would love to see more 3‘s, as well as any 4* and 5*****, which I’ve never seen. What’s up with that?

That’s all.

Gray, over and out.
