Supergriefer Returns

Today was yet another day for the Unlaid Brigade to pop in and start blowing holes in me, despite my game being set to “no PVP.”

Same scenario as usual: I’m working on my base (Euclid galaxy, planet “Walkadj Beta,” near the “Ealpha Base” featured in the Anomaly) and suddenly a rookie griefer pops in and starts trying the “Neutron Cannon” trick. I wasn’t taking direct or splash damage, so I let him finish his tantrum till his mom called him to feed his pet rat or whatever.

The NEXT crotchsniffer, however, had an interesting trick. Suddenly I’m taking purple weapons fire inside my base, and NMS is yelping about “heat damage detected!” There was no one near me that I could see; it sounded like fire from a ship.

I have a series of teleports set up for just this lame situation; in a few seconds and six teleports later, I was nowhere NEAR where I was, and underground, to boot. No way could anyone track me without a search.

–WRONG–

The entire time I was hopping from one teleport to another, the weapons fire was on me the whole time. So, of course, I croaked. (This has to be a mod they sell to those underloved dudes who think Hot Pockets is a food group.)

So be aware: whatever trick these attention-monkeys are using, it doesn’t require line of sight. Or any skill whatsoever. (I hope you enjoyed your lil stiffie when you punched my clock, Flubber.)

For the record, I was able to grab a screenshot of this giggling feminine hygeine product. Or his gamer tag, at least. To the surprise of no one, his actual handle is “NMS Griefer.” On Xbox, I think? His icon is in my pic. He spends a lotta time on Walkadj Beta, taking people out and pawing at himself, I’m assuming.

I blocked and reported, of course, but man– these mods gotta go. It takes a special kinda “lame” to be douchey enough to ruin such a chill game.

4.0 thoughts from a 700 hour player.

I read all of the hate, waited a couple of days, and then held my nose and dove in. I station jumped to get more suit tech slots and am mostly back to where I was. My ships took a pretty big hit. I paid and scraped for more slots and am adding trails and bobbleheads to my favorite ship but they’ll never be as OP as they were before. Still fairly invincible though. I shifted from AI to stasis device farming for money a while ago so all good there.

Overall my biggest complaint is still the lack of procedural diversity, an inventory sort button, and listing the galaxy on the discoveries tab/screenshots. I do like the larger stacks and inventories and some of the visual updates. Overall, pretty solid meh. Mostly I just really appreciate the HG team for sticking with this game and continuing to do all this without charging for it.

What would you like to see in the next update?

Is there any reason to make a ship with more than 800 ly hyperdrive range?

I spent a little time, built my first S-class explorer, set it up for max. hyperdrive range ending up at 1400 ly with upgrades… but the map doesn’t want to let me warp more than four jumps at a time, and one jump is typically 200 ly.

Have I overdone it? Would it make sense to just re-collect the parts (they’re nothing special, just arclight wings) and get something with the other stats a little higher?

Underground Base Build

Underground Base Build

Piscu-Duca Outpost, Euclid

Been wanting to post this base for eons. It’s my virtual pride and joy. Probably 5 years old so far (I seriously wish there was a way we could see how much time has been invested in a base). I don’t play nearly as often as I used to but random inspiration will strike out of the blue and I’ll lose 3 hours to adding new sections, areas, etc. I can’t imagine ever being finished. Oh! This base predates the new base parts. It was probably half the size when the parts were updated and if you look hard enough, I’m sure you could find a few of the old wooden pieces somewhere. As hard as I worked, I’m sure I missed a swap somewhere.

At my base you’ll find:

  • 8500+ part build
  • No glitch, though a fair amount of overlap
  • Over 60% underground and in preexisting caves
  • Base staff apartments (Scientist, Exocraft tech, and Weapons tech spaces are finished. Overseer’s spot isn’t. The botanist lives on my freighter, though he does have a carbon lab on base)
  • Hidden apartment accesses
  • “Secret” trophy room
  • Above ground Conservatory, access via underground pathing though
  • Underground farming
  • Underground Exocraft garage
  • 2 underground condos
  • Chill planet, though toxic, very green\grey, and otherwise pretty drab. Used to have ancient bones but the reset a few years ago took away that perk.
  • Nearly all wooden construction
  • Solar farm
  • And more…

Do pay me a visit and let me know what you think. I’m sure there’s another 8000 base parts worth of ideas left to be pulled out of this place.
