Please enjoy this brief flying saucer tour with your morning coffee.

Please enjoy this brief flying saucer tour with your morning coffee.

I made this retro flying saucer when I first got into building and I keep going back to update it and visit my friends there. They’re a strange crew but they’re family. Except for Giant Eyeball Guy. He’s new and he makes me nervous. If you decide to visit please don’t play with the ejector seat. It’s not a toy.

No Man's Sky would benefit from an in-game civilization system

There are a number of player formed civilizations in NMS, but the game itself doesn’t have any kind of system for forming and joining civilizations. Given the current state of multiplayer, with most players having access to the same universe, now would be a good time to implement such a system. Not entirely a new concept, but some features might include:

  • The ability to form a civilization and recruit other players. Civ names can appear next to players’ gamertags/usernames that are members of a civilization.
  • A governance system where players can create ranks that have different privileges.
  • Players could create custom flags for their civs.
  • Claiming starsystems and planets as part of a civilization.
  • co-ownership and management of bases, settlements, and freighters.

Now a system like this would probably go hand in hand with a major settlement overhaul, as part of the same or separate update. Settlements could act as the hearts of civilizations as players work together to grow, maintain, and defend settlements across their civs. A settlement update might include:

  • More freedom over where a settlement is established, what players can build in a settlement, the layout of settlement specific buildings, and the number of settlements a player (or civ) can own.
  • Settlement requirements like food, water, hazard protection, life support, power, and housing.
  • Implementing the existing farming, mining, power, and cooking mechanics in the game.
  • The ability to establish trade routes via frigates between settlements and bases. Trade routes may need to be defended against pirates from time to time.
  • Settlement building that serve specific functions and can be damaged or destroyed during sentinel attacks.
  • Set up defenses against sentinel attacks.

What do you guys think? Is this an update you’d like to see at some point? Are there any other features you’d want implemented in a civilization update?

More "Transparency" with base building stats.

Bases are great, planets to build them on are different for each player yet almost endless for each player too. And so its a thing people do a lot unless they really just dont like base building.

However there are some limits to the base building, for example. How far out you can extend the base, how many parts can be uploaded to servers, and how much terrain edit data is saved. I believe, to the best of my knowledge, that these values are never presented to the player, when they REALLY should be.

For example:

At your base computer, it could tell you how many placed parts you have (and the upload limit)

You could see somewhere how much terrain edit you have left.

And in build mode, a wall of light could surround the 1000u radius around the base and appear as you get close to it.

These UI changes would make a big difference in the information the player recieves around base building. One can know the 3000 upload limit, but who is keeping count? And really, should the player be the one keeping count in a physical note, like a tally for each base part they place? NO that’s ridiculous. And so the info would be good to know.

Some people, especially newer players, are really upset when they find out the hard way, and it can even cause people to not use base building for a while because the project they worked on for hours is all underground, or the massive “city” thing they were building only uploads part of the build and so to other people it looks unfinished. And these bad surprises could be avoided if the game gave you the info. I my self remember being really upset when I found these things out the hard way a few years ago. And I can imagine a lot of newer players will feel the same, especially with the updated parts etc…

Nada is the Void Mother

I finally finished the expedition.

Did anyone else talk to Nada before visiting the Atlas each time?

She…. Says some rather condemning statements.

How each iteration is still running…

How she hears and sees their pain… How she shielded herself in the Anomaly…

She’s Korvax.

She’s from one of the original iterations.

She’s shielded in an orb. That looks quite similar to what everyone is calling an ejected core in the dissonant camps. Even the bar that spins across the edge is on the crash site object.

I think these camps are repeating the destruction of Prime. Echos of the past are never lost.

Nada is resurrecting Prime. It’s in the back room! She’s gathering souls and using us to build the bodies!

She never leaves, because she is the Void Mother. Or at least one iteration.

When you exit your iteration, are you deleted from the rest? NO.

Is the Nada we talk to literally the Void Mother? NO. Her other iterations are.

Think of Rick and Morty and the council of ricks. There must be a council of Nada that stayed.

Our Nada is aware, and waiting for us to figure it out (maybe).

Or our Nada is the biggest liar in the game.

How do they have the ability to hack any terminal remotely?

How do they know precisely where an issue is for you to overcome?

How do they KNOW?

“She sees through their eyes”

Nada says a lot of semi random crap until you view it through this lense…

Underground Base Build

Underground Base Build

Piscu-Duca Outpost, Euclid

Been wanting to post this base for eons. It’s my virtual pride and joy. Probably 5 years old so far (I seriously wish there was a way we could see how much time has been invested in a base). I don’t play nearly as often as I used to but random inspiration will strike out of the blue and I’ll lose 3 hours to adding new sections, areas, etc. I can’t imagine ever being finished. Oh! This base predates the new base parts. It was probably half the size when the parts were updated and if you look hard enough, I’m sure you could find a few of the old wooden pieces somewhere. As hard as I worked, I’m sure I missed a swap somewhere.

At my base you’ll find:

  • 8500+ part build
  • No glitch, though a fair amount of overlap
  • Over 60% underground and in preexisting caves
  • Base staff apartments (Scientist, Exocraft tech, and Weapons tech spaces are finished. Overseer’s spot isn’t. The botanist lives on my freighter, though he does have a carbon lab on base)
  • Hidden apartment accesses
  • “Secret” trophy room
  • Above ground Conservatory, access via underground pathing though
  • Underground farming
  • Underground Exocraft garage
  • 2 underground condos
  • Chill planet, though toxic, very green\grey, and otherwise pretty drab. Used to have ancient bones but the reset a few years ago took away that perk.
  • Nearly all wooden construction
  • Solar farm
  • And more…

Do pay me a visit and let me know what you think. I’m sure there’s another 8000 base parts worth of ideas left to be pulled out of this place.
