My abomination of a ship

My abomination of a ship

Due to a bug, my sentinel interceptor was turned into a starborn runner. I was initially bummed because it no longer hovers. On the plus side, it does turn on a dime now and I can stack a photon cannon with a sentinel cannon, doing over 5000 points of damage with each burst and can cut through pirates, frigates, dreadnoughts like butter.

If you're S-tier and do a mission with someone C-tier, you are now duty bound to protect them during...

I know there will be someone reading this going “Lol, nah fuck ‘em”.

I hadn’t played since before the new update*. After battling through fixing my inventories, I went to the Nexus to see what’s new. Saw someone starting a new mission, community research at 82%, fuck it I’ll pitch in. Notice the dude is a C-tier, in the starter ship. The mission takes us to an extreme ice planet to battle sentinels, fuck.

Of course all I see in the alerts are “<playername> died from hypothermia.” over and over again. They must’ve spawned a way from their ship because they kept lemming-ing back and forth, freezing to death. I eventually caught up with them in the shelter of one of the mission buildings. So gave them a shitload of batteries, sodium… then they’re off. Transferring inventory to someone running about like a headless chicken is hard.

I followed them all the way to their ship, topping them up with elements whenever their low alerts started. No idea if they even knew I was there haha. But after putting so many hours in, struggling to find things to do, I have a purpose… hazard protection angel for new players.

I could just imagine them confused, panicking, then me jetting off to complete the mission leaving them stranded on a random extreme ice planet. Not today!

*”Now you can see both inventories at once!”,

“But I can only see half of each? Instead of flicking between them, I’m now endlessly scrolling and missing things in two inventories?”

“…. but, both at once!”

I dislike this redesign element so much.

Are you new player looking for some tips to get you started? Are you a veteran player with some advi...

Here’s some of the FAQ suggestions we received in our previous FAQ thread. Keep in mind that these are opinions from some of our valued OP’s and you may agree or disagree with some of these. We just ask that everyone remains respectful when replying to this thread and we look forward to your contribution! NMSTG Mod Team

You can also drop a quick tip!

Tip #1: Always try to be doing multiple things. Pick up the portable refiner so you can refine something from your inventory while exploring and mining.

Tip #2: Avoid multiplayer until unlocking the anomaly, can be stranded if not.

Tip #3: Exotic worlds only have 1 fauna so it’s easy to scan all of them.

Tip #4: Need glyphs? All 16 are on one planet here

Q- “I was on the Anomaly and a bunch of expensive stuff showed up in my inventory. What do I do with it? A:” Congrats! Another player has bestowed you with a gift. Most likely it is an item to sell for some quick and easy cash. Usually the item description will tell you what it is used for.

Q: “Help, I claimed a broken ship and now I can’t find my starter ship! Is it gone forever?” A:” If you merely selected to “claim” the broken ship and not “swap” it, then your old ship is still around. If you left it with launch fuel in the tank, you can summon it with the quick-menu. If it does not have fuel, it can be summoned on the Anomaly (once you unlock it), your freighter (once you acquire one).

Q- “Are crashed ships worth repairing?” A-” Unless it is an exotic, no. Scrap the ship at the space station, sell the items it gives you, and use those units to buy a better, working version of a ship in that system.

Q- “Any advice for new players?” A-“For new players, make sure you read the guide in-game. It’s an excellent beginner’s guide for traveling, learning about the alien races, building, and etc. Take a look over the catalogue of items too. Also, I’d strongly suggest mining a massive amount of carbon, oxygen, and sodium. These three items will be some of your most used and critical items in the game
