Hi, so as the title says, I’ve jumped over ten red systems and I have not found a single planet with cadmium (I scanned each planet in each system 100%). Is there anything I’m doing wrong? Does the game somehow withhold cadmium when a player isn’t developed far enough or is this extreme bad luck? I confirmed these were indeed red systems by checking if I could bring my un-upgraded freighter there and it was not possible so I’m quite sure I’m interpreting the galaxy map correctly as the systems are as red as they get. I’ve Googled everything about it and most people seem to find cadmium on literally every red system so I don’t know why it’s not working for me. It’s become a huge timesink, though I did use every space station out there to get my exosuit expansions. Otherwise I’m having a blast. Intimidated some aggressive alien lifeform and he gave me a great multi tool upgrade for free when I put him in his place ^_^ Oh, and I wanted to share this wonderful view of a planet with magical bubbles. Absolutely stunning <3 Edit: submitted by /u/FlowingLiquidity |

With literally hundreds of bases on the one planet already.
But many more spread through the solar system and nearby galaxy. You can’t warp to a star from Gisto Major that isn’t already colonized by several players.
I love it.
It’s like a colonized region of space with its epicenter on You Know Where. It’s very cool and very Sci fi. Reminds me a lot of Asimov’s universe with Trantor and all that.
I hope some future expeditions accomplish the same thing so there end up being multiple different civilized bubbles in the galaxy all with their own epicenter.

List of all updates in chronological order as well as what they added/changed at the bottom.
Here are the statistics: an average of 3.7 updates per year, and keeping at the current average rate, by the 10th anniversary in November 2026 there could be more 7/8 updates to come. February/March and June/July seem to be guaranteed months for big updates for the last 4 years.
I find it hard to believe that after 8 years of regular updating they’d just stop short of a 10th anniversary, so this probability is extremely likely in my opinion. It could also coincide with the release of Light No Fire and a passing of the torch for the team.
Also worth mentioning that there has been 5 planet generation overhauls (in bold) some greater than others, the last one being Origins in 2020. I could see another generation update being planned for v5.0 (later this year?), personally.

Long ago, NMS only allowed players to own a single ship, making it a major decision on which ship type a traveler should go after. However, realizing this felt clunky, updates have been made over the years, ship slots increased, new tech modules, and new features added. This was a great call, but it did leave one mark: the distinctions between each ship didn’t matter anymore; Haulers don’t even have the benefit of additional cargo space, since all S-class ships can have the same total number of slots.
I was talking ship perks with someone, and it got me thinking that perhaps it would make sense to introduce new strengths to less used ship types. As I was mulling it over, I realized that some of these changes would have to be pretty potent to stand up to current-day standards — poor Shuttles, their only real signature is that their takeoff price is reduced, made obsolete by the auto-recharge modules. So I decided to spitball a few ideas trying to stay true to the ship’s purpose while taking 2024 NMS in mind, and see if the following suggestions are strong enough to make you think “oh yeah, I’d definitely want to own a [ship type].”
Shuttles:
Haulers:
Living:
Explorer:
Let me know if these are along the right lines, and whether you’d fly one of these if they had these perks.

El title.
Why bother to name stuff if you’re the only one who can ever see the name? Is there a way to let others see the name?

While I struggle with anxiety so it is difficult for me to egg myself into the multiplayer scene in the game, I just have to applaud ALL of you guys. This is the most non-toxic gaming community I think I’ve ever seen and I have been a gamer for a goood…
