NMS really needs to update the flight mechanics.

If you’ve ever played star citizen then you might agree. Star citizen completely blows NMS out of the water in terms of ship flight. There are many things NMS could do such as, allow for complete stops and not just a constant idle speed. Allow decoupled mode as in star citizen to allow for more maneuvers in zero gravity. Personally when I’m fighting pirates I just sit in one spot and tank them until they’re all taken out. There is no point to even trying to move while fighting them.

This is my biggest issue in the game, the flight is totally outdated. I play on steam now but still have my original pre ordered ps4 copy. Love the game but I would really enjoy this being the next big update. I dont think anything else could improve the game more than this would.

For those complaining the last 2 updates were lackluster

Let’s have a little more tact.

  1. There’s nothing wrong with expressing wishes and desires
  2. Those complaining obviously still love the game, and aren’t hating on it as a whole
  3. We can communicate more graciously.

HG definitely reads this sub. We know that. NMS came out 6.5 years ago. We paid $60 brand new. I bet a lot of people got it on sale, but let’s just say we paid full price. How many other games, ever, release major content updates for free, no subscriptions, no egregious micro-transactions, and as regularly (despite never committing to a schedule (also note how they’re never late to this non schedule))? Pretty much 0. None that I can think of.

Quick analogy of how I view our current situation:

Let’s say I give a customer a quote on building them a house. It’ll be $600,000 and have all these cool features. When I finish building it’s very obvious it went poorly. There was even a flood halfway through and the foundation had to be re poured. The customer is unhappy, but in good faith I show up a few months later and say “I’m going to redo some rooms and add a couple of things. No charge.”

A few months later I come back again, “New appliances, new windows and a garage! No charge”

And again…. and again…

A few years go by, and now I’ve far exceed the time and effort originally billed. The $600,000 budget for the home build has been more than spent. Yes, a lot of that was scrapped, but even the finished product is now worth more than $600,000.

A few months later, though, “I created a virtual reality experience of your home so you can enjoy it however you want. No charge”.

And a few months later, I come back again “I made some additions to your neighbors house, same as here. No charge”

Fast forward to this last year…. I come back a couple times and say “Some of the stuff I added isn’t quite up to my expectations. I know you’ve gotten used to me adding new cool gadgets when I show up, but before I add more I need to add some supports to the floor, add a wheelchair ramp out front, fresh coat of paint on some of those rooms I worked in a lot as I might have dinged up the walls a little in the overhaul process. No charge”.

Now I want you to put yourself in the homeowner’s shoes and imagine yourself saying “You should have brought me that entertainment system! The 8k projector with 15.1 surround sound and haptic butt-cheek feedback to embed in all my couch cushions!”

It’s kinda crazy… Let’s be honest. We’ve paid for the product, we have more than what we paid for, there is no agreement or statement of intent other than “I’ll be back with more”. At this point we have no right to have **expectations**. (elephant in the room here is there are still some things not in today’s product that were originally promised. I think that ship has sailed, and we’ve received a lot more of something different. The game took a different path, so let’s just leave it at that)

But don’t confuse that with **desires** or **wishes**.

We could say “Next time he comes back to add to the house it would be cool if we got that new entertainment system!”

We shouldn’t say “Next time he comes back to add to the house he should bring that new entertainment system!”

TL;DR

This post may seem superfluous but I think we forget to have perspective on things. Simple phrasing can change a person’s entire mood for a day, or a week. Imagine HG coming to read this sub and all they see are “WTF, why aren’t we getting ACTUAL content?” after they’ve worked so hard? That doesn’t make them feel good or motivated to continue when they could justifiably say “This is the last update. Later doods”. What would make them feel good is us being thankful while also daydreaming about future content. Seeing your playerbase riff off your game with new ideas is very motivating for creators. 🙂

So let’s continue to share what we hope to see, but let’s do it with tact and be gracious for what we’re continuing to get for free.

My hopes for the next non sentinel content

My hopes for the next non sentinel content

So one of the most neglected thing in the game lorewise as well as content wise in general are the Biological Horrors. For something that seems to spread to every planet as well as escape into freighters effectively killing all life aboard, we don’t have all that much new content for them.

My hopes (unbelievable wishful thinking) is that HG takes the time to expand on the biohorrors the same way they did sentinels. Imagine a world taken over by the Bio horrors! Buildings and such with eggs scattered around and slime fleshy webbing on everything.

This can also be added to caves much like the xenomorph cave in Aliens. Caves don’t have a ton of use other than cobalt farming atm, so adding Bio Horror eggs at least gives more reason to go spelunking!

Another idea would be fauna on Bio Horror consumed planets. Maybe add some new proc-gen into fauna build pools that have Bio Horror growths onto them! This seems like a good way to spice up fauna collecting and hunting.

The final thing could be the Bio horrors themselves. It would be really cool to give these mobs some new enemy types. Obviously we would need a Bio Horror Queen! Maybe a larger Mantis as the second strongest then some smol Swarming exploding types.

(I’m also begging HG to give us a new customization set that is being slowly growing Bio Horror webbing and flesh onto it. A fleshy cape would be sweet too!)

Let me know what you guys think!

New to the game, experience so far

Hi all!

I remember seeing the trailers and all the chatter around this game back when it was still being announced and I recall thinking to myself that I needed this game in my life. Well, the launch didn’t go so well, to put it mildly and I just forgot about it until recently.

Decided to get it and give it a shot, since so many online articles were claiming that it redeemed itself and is now the game it claimed to be at launch, so why not.

I have to say that it’s been a while since any game grasped me this hard. There is a sense of wonder and mystery that I can’t put into words, and the feeling of being free to do whatever I want is amazing. I have not gotten very far into the game, only just entered the Anomaly for the first time and spend a few good minutes drooling at all the cool ships. There was even a blue kinda organic-looking one, no idea what that could have been. Oh and one that had a red light in front, moving from side to side just like KITT, that looked amazing and I need it!

So far I have done the tutorial base, but since moved off to another planet, found a nice little Paradise Planet with cool Fauna and nice landscape, so I settled there with a new base. Along the way, and exploring different planets I found some weird bones that sold for quite a bit ( at least for my standard ), found a strange ball that maybe I shouldn’t have picked up since it angered some sentinels and I just barely escaped, and found a very strange planet where my ship was reporting “anomaly strength” at whatever %. Not sure what that was about, but felt cool.

I know that I still have a long way to go ( probably ), but so far I’m having so much fun just exploring and getting side-tracked all the time because I saw something interesting, which leads me to something else and then another thing and I just end up losing track of what I was doing in the first place. But that’s fine because I get to do so much stuff.

For my next steps, I’d love to get a new, cooler, ship, explore more planets to see what they have to offer, adopt a companion and find out what they can do – I have one at the moment, but not entirely sure of their utility – and find out more about trading. I’m starting to notice that prices of some things vary from station to station and I’m sure some clever people out there worked out some trade routes or something similar. Finally, discover more about the storyline, it seems interesting so far!

I went in this game blind, don’t know much about the story or what the endgame looks like, and I’m loving it this way.

Thanks for reading an excited player’s blabbing this far!

What's new in No Man's Sky?

Hello all,

I haven’t played No Man’s Sky for a good while. I played the game partially during the Waypoint update, but can’t recall if I played any of the more recent updates.

So, with that in mind, what’s new to the game? Any new features to look out for? What’s the best game mode? Should I use my old character or just start a new one?

Also, since I’m debating doing a run with some friends; what’s the co-op potential of the game? (All that I recall of my last co-op experience was that there really wasn’t that much to do! Though, I don’t know if I was just missing something.)

I'd really appreciate some kind of "vault" for MTs and ships.

I’m a collector, and I like keeping unique things. I have a couple of expedition ships, as well as the Atlas Staff from the last expedition. The staff and ships are not in my regular use pool of stuff, but getting rid of them appears to mean that I can’t ever get them back. At the expedition rewards vendor, all these things say “previously claimed.” which I’m assuming means they’re one and done. With such a small number of ships and MT’s that we’re able to keep (relative to the massive number of cool looking stuff you can collect.) I feel like a lot of very precious space is getting eaten up by keeping these unique things.

I feel stuck between a rock and hard place. I want to keep the cool looking unique stuff that I don’t think I can get back if I scrap, but I also would like more room.

Even if we can’t keep anything other than the most essential tech on them in “storage” I think it would be great if we had some way to keep more than just 6 MTs and 12 ships. For a game that’s primarily about seeing everything and discovering stuff, we don’t get much in the way of space for the things that matter.
