NMS HOT POST 2022/12/8

Hello fellow Travelers!

Hello fellow Travelers!

I'm new to No Mans Sky and I loved it so much that I wanted to join the community! I'm playing on the Nintendo Switch on a custom difficulty. (Survival: except "standard" for on-foot combat and space combat)

Raw materials became a headache early on while building and just surviving. I wanted a safe and easy way to get basic materials so I could focus on exploring and building. Copper, Pyrite and Oxygen mines provide basic building and survival materials. All resources for the 3 mines are sent to the main base and into the refining room where the 3 main silos are. The 3 mines produce about 55k units in a 15-16hr cycle time. It's all been a nice source of income starting out too.

I've played 120 hours in the first 3 weeks🤕 Thought I'd share a few photos of what I had so far. I apologize for the quality of the photos but again I'm playing on the switch. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks Interlopers!

Journey to the Center of the Galaxy - Conclusion

Day 1 – Unknown distance from the center of the galaxy

Awoke on a toxic planet.

Ship’s crashed, but I don’t remember how. I don’t remember much of anything before that last jump. Everything’s gone.

Well, not everything…

Previous Log Entries:

(I thought for sure I’d get bored and abandon this. But I got into it. The early part was especially fun strategizing how I’d maximize the hyperdrive with limited tech slots. That first freighter battle nearly did me in since I pulled all the shield and weapon upgrades for more hyperdrive upgrades.

Eventually, I started to feel some my my character’s obsession. I’d take a break to eat, intending to pick it up again the next day. But I’d feel the pull to log back in and start jumping again. I actually finished the journey a couple days ago. I’ve just been waiting a bit between posts.

I got really lucky on the ship. Fairly early on, I found an S class explorer at a space station. It had a large number of tech slots already unlocked. It had three super-charged slots in a row together and the fourth was two rows beneath. I was able to load up on S and X class hyperdrive upgrades fairly quick and got it up to 2500 light years and +350% efficiency. I wish I’d saved the system glyphs as it made the journey so much faster.

Some “interesting” stats about the journey:

  • Total jumps: 341
  • Total systems discovered: 339 (only the last two were not “First Contact”)
  • Total warp cells used: 105
  • On-Foot Exploration: 14,014 – This surprised me, I thought it would be lower. I reckon most of this was running around space stations.
  • Total freighter battles: 2 – And not one dreadnought battle. Another surprise. With all those jumps, I expected there to be more. I guess my play time on this save was too low for more. Most of the downed pirates were from a couple missions I did for flavor/variety and getting attacked flying to space stations.

Thank you to those that offered advice on how to make the journey faster. That wasn’t my goal with this journey, but this community has always been great about sharing tips and game info for new players (which I’m not, but I appreciate ya’ll anyway).

Anyway, I hope at least some of you enjoyed this. Thanks for riding along.)

Any way to get these storage boxes level?

Any way to get these storage boxes level?

So I’m trying to put down the storage boxes. However, no matter what I try, they always end up being slightly misaligned when I use the snapping function. I already excavated the ground away underneath and placed a floor for them to sit on. What am I doing wrong?

Help! My paving had a cool retro pattern, and now it's gone. Was it a bug or a feature?

Help! My paving had a cool retro pattern, and now it's gone. Was it a bug or a feature?

I started building a base next to an outpost, and the paving had this cool circle/star/petal pattern as in the second picture. The colors changed on it accordingly, it looked awesome. All pavings consistently had that pattern and I don’t recall clicking on anything to pick it. I scrapped that base and moved a bit over to start it again, and the paving was back to it’s boring self. I went back to the outpost to recreate the first try, but paving is still nonpatterned. I tried clicking on all colors/materials but I can’t get it to be like that again. Am I missing something, am I tripping??

I'd really appreciate some kind of "vault" for MTs and ships.

I’m a collector, and I like keeping unique things. I have a couple of expedition ships, as well as the Atlas Staff from the last expedition. The staff and ships are not in my regular use pool of stuff, but getting rid of them appears to mean that I can’t ever get them back. At the expedition rewards vendor, all these things say “previously claimed.” which I’m assuming means they’re one and done. With such a small number of ships and MT’s that we’re able to keep (relative to the massive number of cool looking stuff you can collect.) I feel like a lot of very precious space is getting eaten up by keeping these unique things.

I feel stuck between a rock and hard place. I want to keep the cool looking unique stuff that I don’t think I can get back if I scrap, but I also would like more room.

Even if we can’t keep anything other than the most essential tech on them in “storage” I think it would be great if we had some way to keep more than just 6 MTs and 12 ships. For a game that’s primarily about seeing everything and discovering stuff, we don’t get much in the way of space for the things that matter.
