With all the buzz for ship customization in the community I'm surprised I haven't seen more discussi...

Hello Games is definetely listening to us when we say we want to be able to customize our own ships and I believe the Voltaic Staff was not only a new thing they wanted to add but also a way for them to test a system for us to actually customize something part-by-part and then by color.

I thought the system worked well except for having to create a whole new staff if you found a new part. There’s also the state of contention on whether or not it’s better to unlock parts permenantly like in the player customization system or if the parts should be as they are, cosumable. I know why they chose to make them consumable, HG doesn’t want to do anything to harm or discourage players from exploring No Man’s Sky. Their procedural, 18-quintillion planets is their top selling point and it needs to be explored and all things involved or added should not only encourage exploration but compliment it.

That being said, I think if ship customization is added, the parts should be found through missions and exploration, like the current voltaic staff customization, but due to the vast, growing types of ship and their parts and colors, they should be permenantly unlocked upon discovery.

There is also something I’ve been feeling that I may be alone in but the newer ship-types(sentinel, solar, living, and the new expedition ship) all have unique upgrades and animations that are beginning to overshadow the use and cool-factor of the original types. If ship customization is implemented should it only be for the original types or for all types and if for athe newer ones as well would that then make them less special or even lesser than the latter by way of not being able to customize them?

Food for thought. Penny for yours. I’d love to see what the community thinks about this.

Extended Free Weekend

Extended Free Weekend

In its free weekend round two announcement, Hello Games says its first attempt “worked better than expected” and No Man’s Sky “started the year with more players than we’ve EVER had at this time of year”, adding, “Our large and friendly community did us proud and jumped at the opportunity to welcome these new Travellers with open arms and show them the ropes.”

As before, No Man’s Sky’s free weekend is open to players on all platforms – Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, and PC – and the latest festivities conclude on Monday, 26th February. Any progress made during the event will be carried over to the full game if you’re convinced enough that you decide to make a purchase, and the previous 50 percent discount is still available across digital storefronts, meaning you can pick it up for around £19.99.

This second free weekend event follows last week’s launch of No Man’s Sky’s Omega update, which added the likes of procedurally generated on-plant missions, the ability to captain imposing Dreadnought capital ships, a revised Atlas Path quest line, and a major overhaul for Expeditions – No Man’s Sky’s limited-time curated campaigns. And speaking of Expeditions, the game’s 12th – titled Omega, appropriately enough – is currently live, meaning you’ll be able to give it a go if you happen to hop on during the free weekend.

Hello Games ends its free weekend redux announcement saying it’s got “big and ambitious updates for No Man’s Sky planned this year”. And, of course, there’s the far from small matter of its next project – the intriguing procedurally generated fantasy planet sim Light No Fire – which the studio unveiled at the end of last year.

Just a small cooking recipe idea, nothing serious

So they recently added 🇺🇸 cookies / 🇬🇧 biscuits to the game, which means Hello Games is adding new cooking recipes in their updates.

Anyways, to the point. There’s bread, with can be made by processing Dough in the Nutrient Processor. And that’s it. Dead end in the crafting tree. Which kinda surprised me a little, considering the various other types of food items that exist in the game.

I propose the category… Assemble Sandwich! At the moment I don’t have ideas for prices and consumption bonuses, but I have a few recipe ideas: – Mystery Melt: Processed Meat or Smoked Meat + Tangy Cheese + Bread – Proto-Panino: Processed Meat or Smoked Meat + ProtoCheese + Bread – Egg Salad Sandwich: Creature Egg (etc) + Steamed Vegetables + Bread – Eerie Sandwich: Larval Core + Steamed Vegetables + Bread – Starlit Sandwich: Silicon Egg + Steamed Vegetables + Bread

If anyone has any ideas for prices, consumption bonuses, or other recipes, feel free to share!
