Got my living ship and… I’m disappointed?

Finally managed to hatch my void egg and got lovely living ship. My only concern is that it has very poor jump range. I can only go to the nearest system and that's it – I get "out of range" message. My everyday ride is sentinel ship (A class, first one that I found) and I can do several jumps before reaching range limit (I believe that max is 700-800 ly).

Is there a way to upgrade my living ship range?
