NMS HOT POST 2022/03/23

I had no idea that exotic ships can land in your settlement

Let's all take a moment to breathe, to put aside the anger, and discuss the real issue with the new ...

Just looking at the new posts this morning is an awful thing. To see a game many of us have enjoyed for years, some of us here since day one, to be brought low by one single update.

But it isn’t the changes to the inventory and the insane restrictions to module installation process that’s causing the upset.

It isn’t the drastically reduced buying price of Activated Indium which I’ve just seen posted.

It’s that the time and effort many players have spent in this game, amassing these module upgrades, finding the perfect ship and kitting it out, the time spent searching for planets with power and resource so farms could be built… what was it all for, in the end?

There’s the argument that “Oh, but it’s no fun walking around in an invincible suit, taking down walkers with ease, or singlehandedly destroying a wave of 27 pirates in seconds.”, and it’s a valid one. It really isn’t all that fun.

But they’ve given us difficulty adjusters so we can make it more of a challenge if we want to. There was no need to nerf modules.

I actually like the look of the new icons. They’re smooth and shiny and kinda cool. But our time and our dedication to the game and our ships and bases has been disregarded. Not as an unfortunate side-effect like the planetary changes back in the day that ruined bases, but as an actual decision that an actual person made.

New players won’t notice these changes, but the dedicated ones will.

And they have.

And they are not happy.
