My not so short, mostly QOL wish list for No Man's Sky (in no particular order)

  • Add the ability to quick-menu summon owned ships on Space Stations.
  • Remove the two antennas nearest the landing bay on Dreadnought Freighters.
  • Show the current Hyperdrive fuel available (Ships & Freighter) while viewing the Galaxy Map.
  • Add the ability to recharge the Hyperdrive (Ships & Freighter) while viewing the Galaxy Map.
  • Add stats to the Exosuit equipment screen (resistances, movement speed, # of free slots in tech/storage, etc.)
  • Add optional base powering (instead of just manually charging) to the following: anti-matter refiner, atmosphere harvester, oxygen harvester, and autonomous mining unit.
  • Add buildable glass roof tiles for freighters.
  • Make it so others can see your ship custom name.
  • Add Subterranean Relics as a decorative item for bases.
  • Add the new purple crystals (from the Interceptor update) as a decorative item for bases.
  • Make squadrons an actual asset… instead of a liability.
  • Hirable NPCs that can repair frigates… for a cost.
  • Move planet bedrock lower so you can (on average) mine deeper.
  • Deeper oceans (as in really deep) on planets.
  • Add planetary “boss mobs” for some real challenges.
  • Give us the ability resize anything and everything in base building.
  • Add “W”est and “E”ast to the compass.
  • Add a Player driven Marketplace in the Anomaly for convenient buying/selling/trading.
  • Default all new saves to PVP = Off.
  • Let us claim the “lurching turtles” on planets as pets.
  • Do actual procedural generation of points-of-interest places on planets (crashed freighters, ruins, etc). When you have seen one, you have seen them all.
  • After charging a portal, add a button that populates all the glyphs randomly. (For those that just want to quickly get lost for no reason at all)
  • Add an option toggle to completely turn off everyone else’s Communication “Com” Balls. Alternatively, have a slider that you can adjust the distance at which they are “seen” from 5u to systemwide.
  • Add the ability to delete your own “Com” Ball(s).
  • Add coop base ownership, as in: After you plant a Base Computer, you can grant specific other(s) building rights.
  • Increase base build limits. 16,000 base objects per save, and a 3,000 components upload limit per base isn’t enough for a game that is virtually limitless in explorable size.
  • Let us un-tag all “active” quests. There are times where you just want to chill out and not be constantly nagged to do a quest.
  • Give us the ability to scrap unwanted Multi-Tools. This could be an option in the space station Multi-Tool upgrade terminal… similar to how we can scrap unwanted starships. (and potentially get Multi-Tool expansion slots in the process)
  • Add the ability to recolor the Sentinel Minotaur. (as well as all of the other vehicles)
  • On the Manage Fleet Terminal on the Freighter… list 10 Frigates per page (instead of just 9).
  • On the Discoveries page… list 10 Flora / Fauna per page (instead of just 9).
  • Add an option for Exosuit and Starship to view the Tech and Cargo slots as either stacked (like it currently is), or on separate tabs so you don’t have to scroll.
  • Add constructible wind turbines as base power alternative. Make the power generation corelate to the current weather conditions. Stormy = more power. Calm weather = less power.
  • Add some way to clean up old unwanted/orphaned/forgotten Save Beacons, Save Points, “Com” Balls, etc.
  • Add female models: Korvax, Gek and Vy’keen, Traveler, and Anomalies. (No Man’s Sky is a sausage fest)
  • Add the ability to choose your Race/Sex on game startup.
  • When deciding on whether or not to hire a Frigate for your fleet… give us a way to show the Fleet Management screen so you can see what you have versus what you need.
  • Add some way to be able to upgrade the current Freighter Class. We can do it for Multi-Tools, Ships, Frigates (through completed missions)… but not our Freighters?
  • Add additional alternative ways to attain Salvaged Frigate Modules and Cargo Bulkheads for Freighter expansion.
  • Add rivers to planets.
  • Bring back all previous expeditions as a permanent part of the game. Could add them all as quest type(s) to a new NPC in the Anomaly.
  • Fix the head sizes for some creatures. I have seen absolutely ginormous creatures out there…. with teeny tiny heads.
  • Add roving packs of Terminator-style Sentinels on planets who’s only mission is to find… and kill you.

Welcome to the new daily Q&A thread for NMSTG! You can now drop a question, provide answers or j...

Below are a few popular questions that we’ve received from our past FAQ thread. As always we ask that everyone be respectful and we welcome everyone’s contribution so have fun!

Q- I’m keen to start a new passive money making pursuit. What are some good ideas or guides post-Waypoint?

A#1-Gold farm, then take that stack and sell it at a terminal (not traders) in systems that sell gold. Sell all your gold to the terminal and crash the economy. Then buy it all back at 80% off discount. You just got free money and keep all the gold. All this takes is an initial investment on a gold farm, then you carry all that gold with you and just sell/buy back when you get to another system that sells gold. With 50 stacks in my ship’s cargo hold, I can make somewhere around 150 million units in each system I do this in.

A#2-Start a Farm, Fusion Igniters or Statis Devices Farm which will increase your profits to 100- 200 mil fairly quickly and you can even send out multiple freighter missions which will help you get aronium, magno-gold, Enriched carbon and more which will increase the profits even more.

A#3-Quickest way I’ve found to make a TON of units: Harvesting Storm Crystals. Find a VERY hot planet that has frequent fire storms. DURING STORMS ONLY – you can see the bright white light from Storm Crystals if you fly around low enough. Fly to them, land, quickly harvest them, get back in your ship and fly to the next before you burn up.

Q-How do I get the Advanced Mining Laser? I don’t have the option to craft one, and the multi-tool upgrade vendor at the space station doesn’t have the blueprint for sale.

A-In order to get it, you have to look for the blueprints in crashed ships or abandoned facilities. You get it from the main story (awakenings) or you can buy it on the anomaly.

Q-What do I actually do in the game? I finished the tutorial, is there anything else beside gathering stuff, building a base and repeat?

A#1-It’s really whatever you want, there’s a base story, (assuming you haven’t completed it already), follow the quest log and you’ll figure it out, but things You’d want to do for end game? You can collect multiple multitools, ships, built a fleet for your freighter, etc.

Q-Is there a planet that is populated by many players, and they built their base close to each others like a city?

A- Yeah its the Galactic Hub Project, Its a place where many people have bases and each day the numbers grow. Please help yourself. There are many factions in NMS that do this, even NMS Pirates Hub.

Q-I’m still pretty early into the game, just making my way to the center of the galaxy, what should I be spending my credits on?

A-Go hang around a outlaw/pirate trading post. Cheapest S-class start at around 8-8.5 million without a trade-in. I recommend Vikeen pirate, as then you have two good and 1 remote chances at high-maneuverability S-class: fighter, solar, exotic.

I'm Playing "Scavenger Mode" in Permadeath - No Money-Making or Spending Allowed.

After hundreds of hours in Normal and Survival modes doing the usual money-making and base-building, I decided to try playing the game a different way, what I’m calling scavenger mode in my first Permadeath save.

The main idea is that I will not be doing anything to make money, I will not be buying any items through galactic trade terminals, and I will not be purchasing upgrades from vendors at space stations. I will acquire nearly everything in the wild: mainly by mining and finding things on planets. I can also acquire materials by robbing freighters and sentinel depots, or fighting sentinels or pirates. New ships cannot be bought. They must be obtained by finding crashed or sunken starships and either fixing them up or scrapping them for their upgrades. New multi-tools also cannot be bought. They must be found in the wild, such as in crashed ships or given to me by NPCs.

I have allowed myself to use nanites to buy blueprints at the Anomaly because some of the really useful blueprints are nearly impossible to find in the wild or through the storyline. The only thing I’ve spent units on is exosuit storage slots, although I’ve also acquired many of my slots by finding and fixing drop pods. Essential items such as life support gel and ion batteries must be crafted. I may allow myself to do occasional Nexus missions for difficult to find and uncraftable items like wiring looms.

So far, I’ve been doing pretty well for myself. I have:

  1. A nice B-class hopper explorer that I found and fixed up, along with another B-class explorer and hauler that I may fix up as well.

  2. After many hours of getting by with my starter multi-tool, an NPC inside a building gave me a new B-class pistol with 21 slots. It was heavily damaged of course, but I’ve been able to fix every damaged piece except for two now.

  3. I finally was gifted a decent freighter after a pirate battle: B-class with 30 slots. Just what I needed after struggling to manage materials in my limited exosuit and ship storage.

  4. Mostly, I’ve maintained a savings of less than 1 million units. I’m now up to 5 million but only because I scrapped some found ships for their upgrades.

I’ve been spending most of my time on hot planets because I found an S-class heat protection in some damaged machinery. I’m letting the things that I find dictate to some extent the paths that I take in the game.

Community

Just a Quick Appreciation

While I struggle with anxiety so it is difficult for me to egg myself into the multiplayer scene in the game, I just have to applaud ALL of you guys. This is the most non-toxic gaming community I think I’ve ever seen and I have been a gamer for a goood…

Too Many Low Difficulty Frigate Expeditions

I re-boarded my freighter after a lengthy reconnaissance mission and wanted to send my frigates out.

So, I visit The Navigator, and he gives me the list of expeditions (not Expeditions) and it’s all low star trips, three 2** and two 1*.

Would love to see more 3‘s, as well as any 4* and 5*****, which I’ve never seen. What’s up with that?

That’s all.

Gray, over and out.
