During Singularity expedition, we are tasked with forging the Seed of Will, which is “unsuppressable will to exist” taken physical form. When we interact/Resonate with it, it sounds like typical Atlas Interface… except it suddenly starts to sound like an alarm, very melodic one at that.

Now for those who don’t know, No Man’s Sky universe is essentially a simulation run by Atlas. Atlas is the name of the supercomputer who was designed to run these simulations by some unknown race of beings. However, these beings have fled the world which was slowly being eaten by the black hole and left Atlas behind, probably too monumental in its size to be transported easily. This has caused Atlas to develop abandonment issues, depression and existential dread. According to his calculations, he has 16 of something of operational time left (this is why you see number 16 being repeated everywhere throughout the game). Also fun fact – canonically your character is the last iteration of Traveller beings, which were made out of brainscans of Atlas’ creators. It creates Travellers in an attempt to find out why was he abandoned.

Now this is my theory, that the sound we hear while resonating with the Seed of Will is actually what Atlas hears in its room or other chamber where its physical body resides in. The melodic tunes we hear might be an emergency alarm sound as the physical world is slowly being torn apart by the black hole with Atlas being able to do nothing as he dies. The fact that the Seed of Will is described as “unsuppressable will to exist” could mean that Atlas wants to survive in whatever way it can. This also ties into another theory that the Construct we are assembling is actually body of the Atlas itself, which wants to traverse the simulation rather than just simulating it. I believe that this might be actually the way for Atlas to depart on its own terms – to wander around the world he has created rather than feel his body being torn to shreds in complete solitude.

A massage to the guy who wanted to gift me suff so bad he chased me in the Anomaly:

I bought the game in 2017, picked it up a few times after the big Next update and stopped. I started to play again a little bit over a month ago and I’m amazed. I am fascinated by a lot of mechanics that to me are completely new. Living ships definitely take the first place for me, I want to earn one so bad. Anyways, I managed to complete a few quests, get a decent amount of units, but it looks like the amount of things to do in this Universe is incredibly abundant. I was playing with a friend of mine a couple hours ago, whom was also amazed by this game and bought it instantly after watchig me playing with the PS Share Play for hours, and I helped him to get to the Anomaly. While I was waiting for him to talk with the various npc’s, a guy gave me maps to exosouit upgrade pods. They’re fairly easy to get, so I emoted a “thank you” and “no”, to try and let him know that I’m not that new, and that I didn’t need anything. While I was trying to walk away he literally CHASED ME to give me stuff. He gave me a void egg, which as far as I know, is hard enough to obtain and fairly expensive in quicksilver. We started to CHASE EACH OTHER, because I felt guilty and wanted to give him back the stuff! It was absolutely surreal, and it’s also weird how video game community change that much. Kids wishing you terminal diseases on Rainbow Six Siege, people dying to give you their items on No Man’s Sky. In the end, he managed to sneak a void egg in my inventory. I’m the type of guy who finds satisfaction in obtaining things by himself, I feel that by not going through the regular process, I am missing parts of the game. You won, though, and to honor such victory, I shall keep the sacred egg, fellow traveller. I can’t ramember your username, I think it was something along the lines of “Black Tainted/Painted”, perhaps with a couple of underscores. It’s just that I find this expedition really slow and boring compared to the previous ones, but I feel I have to do it or I will miss out on some really cool rewards.

I don’t think expeditions or their rewards should be time-limited. The rest of no man’s sky is about the freedom to do anything you want, but with expeditions…

I mean I want a robo dog, but I don’t want to milk every cow in the galaxy within the next dix weeks for fear of missing out.

This is just my personal opinion.

So I have played no man’s sky since launch. Today I played a little fallout and the game crashed on me and it appears my playstations hard drive is dead. I haven’t had psplus in like a year as I have only played fallout or no man’s sky since 2016. I have lost hundreds of hours of no man’s sky across multiple saves. 🙁 When I fix my playstation I have to start all over. Thankfully polestar is about to redux again so I can get my beloved singularity drive back. It’s still devastation though. Good bye my beloved permadeath save I will miss you. Good bye my beautiful squid ship, good bye all my ships. I hope I find similar ones again. Sorry just had to vent because my wife and kids sure as heck don’t care lol 😭😭
