NMS HOT POST 2022/07/26

RNG Gods were with me on this save! Not only did the first ever ship to enter the spacestation after you start a new game was an exotic- but the first sentinel pillar next to my base (AlphaNull Trade n’ Rest) gave me a royal multitool from the first try! Glyphs in the screenshot (in Euclid)

I don't understand why the game is addictive when its so boring.

I am 15 hours in, got my self an S class Explorer have 12 mil in bank. I am completely and utterly lost in any of the missions and their story’s it all seems gobbldegook to me, so confusing. Having to keep mining copper is doing my head in, its repetitive and boring, never enough back pack space I hate it…..

.
And yet, I keep wanting to play it, I look forward to playing it when I get home from work, a cheeky 20 mins turns into 3 hours. What is it with this game? I still can’t work out what’s brining me back.

I land on a planet and lets face it you have seen everything in the first 10 mins. I know there is cobalt in caves, I know scanning everything is pretty pointless. Iv seen the same building and trade hubs a 1000x on 20 or so planets. So while I am enjoying the game, I don’t know what I am doing, have zero understanding of the story, there are no cut scenes, combat is naff, rarely see other players..

Why do we love this game? I don’t know!!

… boots up xbox series x for a quick go….

Does the game has some depth after all those updates ?

Hi, I played nms on release, it was okay at first but quickly become really boring, the gameplay loop was really monotonous, the exploration was stale rather quickly, combat was shit, lore/story was inexistant, piloting was bad because you felt like your were on rail and there was nothing to do on space, planet were mono-biome with repetitive terrain, etc…

I played a couple hours then the update with the pets was released, it felt better but still a bit shallow (haven’t gone really far tho).

I’m now interested by the game on switch (which has no multiplayer and no settlements), and I’d like to know if some of the game subsystems gained some substantial depth, if the combat are now interesting (and has quests or thing like that that push you to combat), if the story/Lora has more importance, if the exploration feel less meaningless (like the random 2rooms outpost that wasn’t randomly placed there, etc..), etc… I’m not interested by the base-bulding aspect of the game tho.

Gardening is fun

This is my Stasis farm biologicals, a two minute run down the hall gives me enough to make almost 100 stasis devices at 15.6M units each. Couple that with my collection of S-class mines across 11 galaxies and you’ve got a moneymaking operation. …
