2 weeks ago I made a post asking how could I enjoy the game more, and I realized I just had the wrong approach. I was too used to games that reward you / give you feedback on every little action you make and walking you by hand in every mission, limiting your actions, giving you main and side goals, etc. Every time I tried to play NMS I would get bored- I think overwhelmed is a better description, because I had a ton of stuff to do, but everything felt meaningless because I wasn’t getting feedback or progressing towards a bigger something. And I just realized, that’s the whole point of it. The game’s not the one supposed to give me feedback or any objective at all, but me. There’s no “progress” in the game, because I can progress however I want. There’s no “objectives” in the game, because I can set my own objectives. Once I realized this, my view of the game completely shifted and I started enjoying it a lot more. I never get overwhelmed or bored or feel like my actions have no meaning. I am the one who will decide how to play, which planets to go to, how I build my bases and where, what ships and weapons I keep for my collection and which ones I scrap. If I want to spend hours and hours farming nanites, if I go looking for new cosmetics for my character, if I want to find a new pet, if I decide to crash the galactic market of countless of systems and then take advantage of the reduced prices to make even more money, or if I just want to take a walk through space, I can do it and still not feel like I’m not doing anything, because that’s what the game is about. submitted by /u/Distinger_ |

So, I was on a planet and found a terminal at a trading station that gave me the option of buying a map to an ancient ruin. Bought it, went there. Found some sort of gravity ball thingy, picked it up, and got swarmed by sentinels. I managed to run back…

Just found these gems in a Nexus mission 🥳 "Exosuit Expansion Units" are way easier to use than those maps that are sold at the space station. submitted by /u/Few_Rub_9651 [link] [comments]

I submitted this request to Hello Games for settlement improvements (I include it merely for anyone who wishes to read it). What ideas do you all have to make settlements more relevant and fun?
I really love the idea of settlements. Even though this is technically an MMO it can get quite lonely in space. I like the idea of being in charge of something and helping it grow. Unfortunately, it feels too disconnected. Trying to interact with the citizens only gives you the option to leave. When there is a matter to be discussed, it is never in person. Any visitor, dispute, or proposal is done through the comms system. It would be great to have citizens show up at the office with their complaints, to go to the town hall and see everyone voting on proposals. To attend farewell and welcome events for missions. It would be great to be able to use things like the dance hall. That was another thing, inconsistency. It had me build a dance hall but dancing was still banned. It would be nice instead of waiting for options f we could inact them. I would love to make the active choice as overseer to unban dancing and not just wait for that option. I’d also love to be able to live at the settlement. I would love to have a place of residence that I can modify and expand (like a freighter). Having to cheat by building a base on the outskirts and moving inwards isn’t as fun. Making settlements a lot more dynamic would be a ton of fun. Being able to allow friends to buy homes there would also be cool.

How much time do you spend playing with others during the game or is it more solitary? submitted by /u/FO76and4Fan [link] [comments]

Is there any way I can trigger settlement development to get more people? I stopped getting construction opportunities so I’m afraid I hit my limit for buildings or something before being able to build more residences. I’m glad the gang is happy and wants to throw parties all the time, but I want more friends 😔 submitted by /u/kawabunga666 |

I see it has slots for Sulphurine, Radon and Nitrogen. However it only extracts Chromatic Metal. How do I collect the gases? submitted by /u/Odd-Independence-618 [link] [comments]

Didn’t realise until now, about 50 hours in, that the first world I landed on is rarity. Nice weather, no predators, low sentinel in a quiet system. Time to retire before I’ve even started the game really
