So I was one of the people who was super hyped to play NMS, I was very active on this sub as well before release. Sadly I gave up after just a few hours into the game and refunded it on steam. I kept hearing about the updates that happened but never gave it a second look. Well after I got bored of Starfield after 60 hours, completing all quest lines and not likening the copy-paste planets, I saw NMS on sale and said why not.

This game is insane, I am only 6 hours in now and wow, this is so much to do and see. I don’t have a ton of time to play, but I am putting all of free time into NMS, I love the difficulty settings as this is my new chill game to play with a glass of wine. Every planet is fun and new, base building is actually rewarding and the quests are great. I am very happy to see this game really come together after all these years. Yes, the learning curve is crazy high, but it’s well worth learning it.

Glad I came back to NMS, it’s a visual and relaxing treat.

Alright for context: I’m now 20+ hours ingame. And so far i’ve gathered: The Korvax are not really individuals but also not really a hivemind. Then they got genocided by the Gek. The Gek are some greedy bastards and in turn got genocided by the Vy’keen. Who are fighting a perpetual war against war itself, which may be the worst, just leads to nothing except more war and suffering. Furthermore in the basic starting mission of building your base you meet: 1: an agrarian who is so disillusioned by the destruction of his species that the simplest of plants grant him satisfaction 2: an exo-craft technician who doomed his entire family to death 3: Your scientist who got disconnected from the convergence and has his memory reset multiple times

Why can’t I just meet a nice town or village of well-meaning Aliens or something like that? I love No Man’s Sky but it just feels so lonely 🙁

I’ve seen a lot of posts in the past 2 days about people getting stuck hours away from their base, on top of mountains, in the middle of the ocean or chased by sentinel. Here is how you should prepare. The Nomad exocraft is extremely useful this expedition and should be the first thing you put down after you land on your building site. It can climb literally vertical cliff, float on surface of water and very hard to get stuck inside caves. It’s also the second fastest exocraft. So, other than ferite and copper, you should stock up on parafinium to build the station, and pre-crafting metal plating before you leave a planet.
