The moment I landed and set my eyes on this planet, I decided to build my base on it!

No man’s sky never fails to amaze for sure! I encountered this planet for the first time in my many hours of playing NMS! I couldn’t contain my happiness and jumped around these bubbles.. I also found a bunch of strange biological entities too.

If anybody is interested, here is the link to the video: https://youtu.be/Th1riiUODu0?si=4TBxVAOSDlI7QV1N

A 100% oceanic planet (unfortunately a bug)

A 100% oceanic planet (unfortunately a bug)

I was travelling through the system when I suddenly came across a what could’ve been a fully oceanic planet. It looked like one from space and when I entered the atmosphere, I saw a vast ocean, I couldn’t land my spaceship to chart it. At this point I’ve actually started to think that I’ve discovered something super rare! I even attempted to park the freighter as close as possible to jump from it and discover the planet on foot and used several maps to find just a single building on the surface…

…except there only was emptiness. A big endless ocean. Every landmark that the game has pointed to me was leading to the ocean. There wasn’t a single island, a single piece of solid surface to land the ship. I was amazed by this rare sight because, well, as you know, usually every oceanic panorama is kinda stained by some weird-looking isles that ruin the view. This time, it was only water. I even managed to “drown” my ship and fly underwater (not sure whether it’s possible under normal circumstances) for a while, took some pics and left because I couldn’t do anything about this planet except openly stare at it and think about the fact that we don’t have an option for water landing yet.

The biggest surprise arrived when I re-visited the system. The planet came back to its normal scorched biome look. Sad. Can we get oceanic planets in the future? pls ^-^

While NMS doesn’t have its own Solaris yet, something really close is nevertheless quite achievable… hehe

That’s me flying underwater. Hope the ship insurance will understand that I’ve got an issue with the air filters…

I really wish HG would start actually tieing up loose ends instead of adding a new one every update.

Pretty much the title. Guess I will have to wait until next year to actually see this game go somewhere.

We got spaceships but no true variation, or even modding/crafting. Not even species/faction related ships.

We got freighters but they are a flying inventory box combined with an annoying-to-access timer management minigame.

We have factions and races, but there is zero interaction between the two.

We have crafting, but literally zero use for hightech components.

We got derelict freigthers, but once you see two you have pretty much seen them all.

We got expeditions, yet I completed the last one in a relaxed weekend session so that’s essentially nothing for now.

We got combat, but effectively 4 mobile enemy types and maybe the same number of hazardous fauna which is the same on every planet. Why even have shooting when there’s nothing to shoot at?

We got bases, but nothing to do in them aside from stacking biodomes and placing a large refiner. Settlements are even worse in that regard: you expand it so you… can expand it more? Purely cosmetic changes that aside from eating some resources change nothing in how I interact with the game.

And after 5 years there still is no worthwhile lategame activity. There is no hunting for ship parts/gear. There is nothing rewarding you for the grind for the species/factions. There are no possible mammoth projects one could try to tackle, like expanding your settlement to the point where you can (extreme example) have them start building your own custom freigther. There is not even rare “fashion” to chase down to flex on others in the anomaly with your surpreme sense of aesthetics (or shameless lack thereof, Warframe’s fashion game sure was one crazy mess sometimes).

Every part of this game is just another weird isolated extra-piece that barely fits with each other, and somewhere someone has tried to cram in random story beats with a crowbar or something. The potential is definetly there, this car could definetly go super-turbo-speed with a right do-over of the engine and the gears. But instead watch them install a bluetooth-capable cupholder. It’s so infuriating to see all this potential and HG doing effectively jack shit with it.

Every update/upgrade made No man's sky more and more amazing but hello games need to address the UI ...

I’ll start saying i’m in love with this game, the sentinel update is amazing.

I’m a console player, so i’m using a pad on my ps4 and today i had a rough time trying to get a good friend of mine to learn the basics and how to use everything on the game and I noticed (my god) I COMPLETELY IGNORED for a long time how bad the UI design and controls are, first the controls are not meant to be used with a pad, it’s a friggin mouse pointer which makes everything HORRIBLE for a console player, just having to move the stick to use the menus is pain, second, everything gets in your way, the floating info is too god damn big for every item to the point where you have to hide the hud to be able to have a not so horrible experience building your base.

Please Sean I know you’re reading, and thinking this guy doesn’t even know how to write properly

But

Please

PLEASE

I’m in pain

Can we have a proper console controls UI? An UI and controls revamp adapted for Gamepads would be a really nice improvement

Needles to say my friend was very excited to play the game but felt overwhelmed by the bad UI design and the controls.
