NMS HOT POST 2023/08/16

No Man Sky on the PSVR2 is an incredible experience!

I’ve seen a bunch of negativity surrounding NMS on the PSVR2 so I just wanted to throw in my two cents. I’m new to VR and old to NMS (I’ve played NMS since launch day and absolutely love the game).

Going into VR has been a blast and makes me feel all giddy like it’s launch day again. Seeing everything in full-scale is jaw dropping, flying around planets is absolutely mesmerising, mining with the terrain manipulator feels oddly therapeutic, diving into caves is scary, the list goes on!

Yes, the graphics aren’t incredible but it’s so easily forgotten once you start playing and become immersed. I feel so lucky that Hello Games decided to turn their baby into a VR game, too. What a great idea that was!

Falling in love all over again...

For Reference: I pre-ordered No Man’s Sky when it was first announced specifically because they said it would support VR. I played it on the PS VR first generation and had a great time.

Flash Forward to today. I’ve had the PS VR2 for a couple of weeks, but no time to play it. This morning I fired up NMS and the VR2. If I didn’t need to stop to go to the bathroom I would still be there. I’m falling in love with VR and NMS all over again. The graphical upgrade, the haptics in the controllers and the headset, did I mention the graphics. The 3D audio with the Sony Headset is perfect, fits comfortably and sounds phenomenal.

All in All, I’m ecstatic! BRAVO!

Please let Light No Fire have VR support. I’m ready!

P.S. I love this so much, I posted it in the PSVR2 and Light No Fire subreddits as well.

I would like the exploration of abandoned buildings, space stations or freighters to be more related...

I would like the exploration of abandoned buildings, space stations or freighters to be more related to the elements of horror and danger.

It is the lack of such strong elements of horror that makes exploration very shallow in places. You can see an abandoned building in the distance.

What’s in there?

Why was it abandoned?

I would like to see shivers down my spine at such moments at the thought that there may be some unspeakable evil hiding there, just waiting for the stray Traveler.

This moment accompanied me for the first time when I docked to an abandoned space station and I was greeted by the red glow at the entrance. Flying into the darkness and fear of leaving the ship. It is a pity that apart from the atmosphere element, the station turned out to be completely empty and disappointing. Logs in abandoned buildings and terminals suggest that some dark things were happening to their authors, but we do not have a chance to find out about it ourselves in the game.

I hope Hello Games will develop this element more by drawing inspiration from various games like “Dead Space”, “Alien”, “Pitch Black” where the threat comes when the planet goes dark.

It’s not about just placing monsters that can kill us quickly, but maybe something like various anomalies, multidimensional creatures or things even using cheap “jumpscares” but catching the player by surprise and not able to be counteracted by a powerful character with a lot of suit upgrades.
